Churches & Faith-Based Groups

How to Work With In the Cove

This guide is for churches, faith-based organisations and religious community groups serving the Lane Cove area.

In short

We may be able to include basic community information for free, but free coverage is never guaranteed.

If your church or faith-based group wants guaranteed reach, repeated promotion, a dedicated article, newsletter promotion, social media promotion or promotion of an income-generating event, you will need an advertising plan.

Working with In the Cove

In the Cove welcomes community-relevant content from churches and faith-based groups, particularly where it serves the broader Lane Cove community, not just the congregation.

What may be available for free

  • Occasional mention in the Week in Review where content is timely and broadly relevant
  • Inclusion in relevant community guides or wrap-ups
  • Permission to post in ITC’s Facebook groups, subject to the rules of each group and admin approval
  • Occasional editorial coverage for major community events, charity initiatives or matters of local interest

This basic support is designed to help keep the community informed. It is not an advertising campaign, and inclusion is never guaranteed.

What types of content may be considered

  • A major community event open to all Lane Cove residents
  • A charity initiative or community support program
  • An open community program, such as support groups, community meals or counselling services
  • A fundraising event of broad community interest
  • A significant milestone or achievement with genuine local news value

Regular services and recurring programs

Regular services, weekly programs and recurring activities are generally not suited to free editorial coverage. These are better suited to a directory listing, event listing or paid advertising.

Deadlines, images and permissions

Our Week in Review generally covers Tuesday to Tuesday. Late submissions may be moved to the following week if still relevant or may not be included.

By submitting images, you confirm you have permission to share them with In the Cove for publication on our website, newsletter and social media channels. Where children are pictured or named, the submitting organisation is responsible for confirming appropriate permissions are in place.

Please provide images suitable for web use. If image files are too large, we may ask you to reduce the file size and resubmit them.

When an advertising plan is required

If your church or faith-based group wants a dedicated article, guaranteed social media promotion, repeated promotion, newsletter advertising, or promotion of a specific event, fundraiser, ticketed event or income-generating program, an advertising plan is required. Request advertising options

Facebook group rules

Eligible churches and faith-based groups may post in ITC’s Facebook groups, subject to the rules of each group and admin approval.

  • Maximum once per week
  • All posts require admin approval and will remain pending until reviewed
  • Content must be genuinely local and community-focused
  • No repeated posts about the same event, program, service, fundraiser or campaign
  • No using the groups as though they are your organisation’s own page
  • Posts in Kids in the Cove must be family, parenting or child-focused
  • Promotional content for paid programs, ticketed events, fundraisers or income-generating activities may require advertising
