How to Work With In the Cove
This guide is for community event organisers, not-for-profit events, ticketed events and event promoters.
In short
Some local events may be listed or mentioned for free where they are relevant to Lane Cove and submitted with all required details.
Events seeking guaranteed reach, repeated promotion, social media coverage, newsletter placement or campaign-style promotion require advertising.
Events that may be considered for free inclusion
- Free community events open to Lane Cove residents
- Charity events and community fundraisers with broad local relevance
- Council or community consultation sessions
- Local school or sporting club events
- Events with broad local interest and no commercial primary purpose
Free inclusion is never guaranteed and depends on local relevance, timing, available space and editorial discretion.
Events that generally require advertising
- Ticketed commercial events
- Business promotions or product launches
- Workshops, classes or programs run for profit
- Repeated events requiring ongoing promotion
- Events seeking guaranteed social media or newsletter coverage
- Events outside the Lane Cove area without a strong local connection
- Income-generating events, even when run by a not-for-profit or community group
- Campaign-style promotion designed to drive ticket sales, bookings, attendance or donations
Event calendar
Community event organisers may submit local events to the In the Cove event calendar.
Events must include a clear date, time, location, organiser details, booking link where relevant and a short description. A single-day or multi-day event is fine, but ongoing programs, recurring classes and general promotion may require advertising. Submit an event
Community news and Week in Review
Some events may also be mentioned in the Week in Review or other In the Cove content where they are timely, locally relevant and of genuine interest to the broader Lane Cove community.
Our Week in Review generally covers Tuesday to Tuesday. Late submissions may be moved to the following week if still relevant or may not be included. Submit community news
Fundraising and donation requests
Event listing or editorial consideration is separate from Facebook group approval.
Personal fundraising links, GoFundMe links, donation requests and similar appeals are not permitted in ITC’s Facebook groups.
Fundraising campaigns, raffle promotion, donation drives or repeated appeals may require an advertising plan, even where the cause is worthwhile.
Images and permissions
By submitting images, you confirm you have permission to share them with In the Cove for publication on our website, newsletter and social media channels. Where children are pictured or named, the submitting organiser is responsible for confirming appropriate permissions are in place.
Please provide images suitable for web use. If image files are too large, we may ask you to reduce the file size and resubmit them.
Facebook group rules
Community event organisers may post in ITC’s Facebook groups, subject to the rules of each group and admin approval.
