Schools P&Cs & Education Providers

How to Work With In the Cove

This guide is for public schools, private schools, Catholic schools, preschools, early learning centres, tutoring businesses and education providers.

In short

Public schools may receive the same basic community support available to sporting clubs and not-for-profits. Private and Catholic schools, preschools and education providers can request advertising options for enrolments, open days, school tours, paid programs and general promotion.

Public schools

Public schools may receive basic community support, including:

  • Possible inclusion in the Week in Review for timely, locally relevant news
  • Inclusion in relevant school, family or community guides
  • Permission to post in ITC’s Facebook groups, subject to the rules of each group and admin approval
  • Occasional coverage of major student achievements, public events, community fundraisers or important school milestones
  • Sharing information that affects the broader community, such as traffic, safety or public consultation matters

This basic support is designed to help keep the community informed. It is not an advertising campaign, and inclusion is never guaranteed.

Public school fundraisers and events

Some public school fundraisers or events may be included where they are relevant to the broader Lane Cove community.

If a school wants a dedicated campaign, repeated promotion, guaranteed social media promotion, newsletter advertising or significant promotion of an income-generating event, an advertising plan may be required.

Private and Catholic schools

Private schools and Catholic schools can request advertising options to promote their school, open days, enrolments, scholarships, events, programs or achievements.

Free editorial coverage may be considered where there is a clear local news angle or significant community-interest story. Promotion of enrolments, open days, school tours, paid programs or general school marketing is considered advertising.

Preschools, early learning centres and education providers

Preschools, early learning centres, tutoring businesses and education providers may submit local community news, achievements, open days, fundraisers, major events or student milestones for possible free inclusion.

Promotion of enrolments, regular programs, holiday camps, paid workshops, tutoring and private education services is generally considered advertising.

Deadlines, images and permissions

Our Week in Review generally covers Tuesday to Tuesday. Late submissions may be moved to the following week if still relevant or may not be included.

Where children are pictured or named, the submitting school or provider is responsible for confirming appropriate permissions are in place.

Please provide images suitable for web use. If image files are too large, we may ask you to reduce the file size and resubmit them.

Facebook group rules

Public schools and their P&Cs may post in ITC’s Facebook groups, subject to the rules of each group and admin approval.

Private schools, Catholic schools, preschools, early learning centres, tutoring businesses and education providers should request advertising options for promotional content, including enrolments, open days, tours, paid programs, holiday activities and regular services.

  • Maximum once per week for eligible public school and P&C posts
  • All posts require admin approval and will remain pending until reviewed
  • Content must be genuinely local and community-focused
  • No repeated posts about the same event, fundraiser, enrolment period, program or campaign
  • No using the groups as though they are your school or organisation’s own page
  • Posts in Kids in the Cove must be family, parenting or child-focused
  • Promotional content for paid programs, tutoring, holiday camps, open days, tours, enrolments or private education services may require advertising
