Welcome to our Lane Cove Week in Review, for 11 to 17 July 2016. Another quiet week, thanks to the school holidays, and many people escaping to warmer climes.

Don’t Forget your Sports Bras

We have been asked numerous times why are there now so many speed bumps at the entrance of Lane Cove Market Square car park. They have been installed to slow down cars so it is easier to take a photo of a car’s number plate. One Roving Reporter told us she now wears her sports bra when she is going to this car park!

Traffic Issues

On Monday 11 July, a Roving Reporter advised “Truck hit a light pole, corner of Centennial and Epping Road near motorcycle shop at 9:30am this morning. Fire engine still as electric wires down, blocked north bound Centennial from Epping to Mowbray”. We understand this caused significant issues throughout the morning.

On Wednesday 13 July, a Roving Reporter told us “To anyone wondering why the traffic on Centennial Rd going west has been horrific this last week, I rang the traffic guys to alert them and apparently he found two faulty light detectors on Penrose and Figtree streets and is sending an engineer to fix them now. Hopefully that fixes it! You can thank me later”. THANK YOU!!

On Thursday 14 July, a Roving Reporter told us traffic was bring diverted on a detour through Greenwich – “River Road (South bound, heading into Lane Cove) closed due to police/ranger operation just before Greenwich Hospital. Detour in place via Innes Road, traffic is slow as no signs are up so non-locals are lost driving around Greenwich!

New Gal in Town

Suzie’s Restaurant opened during the week. It is located on Longueville Road, between Patchai and L’Italiano. We haven’t tried it out yet, but if the food pictured on their Instagram feed is anything like what is served in house, we could be in for a treat!

Lane Cove Aquatic Centre Update

Regular readers would recall our previous rant about the state of the main change rooms at the Aquatic Centre, and the delays in getting them upgraded.

This week we received an update from Lane Cove Council

“The upgrade to the change rooms at the Aquatic Centre is almost ready to get underway – it looks like an early August start. Over the coming week or two pool users will be advised on the timing of the works.”
