Welcome to our Lane Cove monthly round up of all things Business during September 2016. If it opened, closed, rebranded, refurbed or anything else, we’ve (hopefully) covered it here!
Now Open/New Businesses
Encasa opened in the middle of September, and they have really hit the ground running, with reports of being pretty full most nights, and rave reviews about the food, and friendly staff. Even better news – Encasa is owned by Lane Cove locals!
Another newbie during the month, Artisan Brooklyn is open, and offering a range of American style meals, along with a tempting looking deli. Since opening, we are pleased to report that they have added a Kids Menu too.
A new upholstery shop called Cushions ‘R’ Us has opened on Mowbray Road West, in Lane Cove North.
Another Thai Massage place has opened ITC. Lane Cove Fine Thai & Remedial Massage is located overlooking the plaza, upstairs above Blue Illusion. A friend of ITC’s has had one of the ‘Oil Massages’ and said it was on par with the other local Thai Massage salons.
A cafe is opening at 1/7-13 Centennial Avenue, Lane Cove North (the Savanna Apartments). It is called Bella Bacio Cafe
Yep, another child care centre is opening soon in Lane Cove – this one at the old Mandalay site, on the corner of Tambourine Bay Road and Burns Bay Road.
Batch By Batch
A new bakery is planned for Northwood called Batch By Batch – delicious treats and gifts. It is a few doors up from the Riverview Vet.
King of Kebabs is under new ownership and has longer opening hours.
The Lane Cove Club members voted to amalgamate with the Norths Group (the group that runs The Greens in North Sydney). The paperwork is still being processed by the relevant Government Departments. Once the amalgamation is official, we will let you know some new plans the new operators have for the Lane Cove Club.
Sircus is now NiBu
Located in the Village Shopping Centre (across from Coles), Sircus Cafe is now called NiBu.
Music and Pizzas at Lane Cove Golf Club
Following much discussion and taking into consideration comments from members and guests we are excited to announce that from this Friday, 16th September an arrangement has been made with Zapparelli’s Pizza, who will deliver food to those attending the Full Swing Live Quartet on Friday evenings. Menus will be available at the bar.
You may select and order via your own phone, giving your name and table number. You may use a credit card to pay or payment will be cash on delivery. The delivery fee of $3 will be waived when you tell Zapparelli‘s it is for the Golf Club. Otherwise you can give your order to the bar staff who will phone through the order.
Lane Cove Veterinary Hospital have been busy updating their clinic, and shared the following with us
Exciting times ahead and a new look for Lane Cove Veterinary Hospital!
We thought that this was a great opportunity to share some recent developments that have taken place here at Lane Cove Veterinary Hospital. As your partner in petcare, we strive to deliver excellence in veterinary care…and now the clinic itself will also match our team’s passion and energy!
Our new look signals a new era for Lane Cove Veterinary Hospital. You may have noticed some changes around the place! Our new and improved puppy pre-school area has a picket fence as well as an artificial grass covering for all the puppies! Also, keep an eye out for our mascots Rusty the dog, Rosie the cat and their group of friends. See if you can spot them on the Pacific Highway side of the clinic.
The exterior changes are only the beginning! In the coming months our clinic revamp will continue with changes and redesigning of our reception and consulting rooms for the convenience of our clients. We can’t wait to share and reveal these renovations as they develop.
Closing or Closed
After 62 years in Lane Cove, Romantic Notions on Longueville Road closed down at the end of September. Marilyn and her staff would like to thank Lane Cove for their support, but it is time for a well-earned retirement. We wish them all the best in the future.
Yogabowl ~ Corporate & Yoga Services is on the move. After 11 years at the Longueville Sporting Club (aka The Diddy), they are moving next door to the Lane Cove Tennis Club.
It is a beautiful, clean, airy space. Looking out big windows at the sky, the trees and the sunset. Lovely calm energy in the space.
When do they move?
The Tennis Club will be their permanent home as of Monday 10th October. Until then, watch the timetable for classes at both venues. Our last class @ The Diddy will be Sat 8th Oct.
Stay tuned for details of the house-warming party.
We’re not entirely sure if LCDA are relocating, or just expanding, but they have taken over the space upstairs in Lane Cove Arcade, which used to be home to Xago, across the hall from Vision Personal Training.
Pssst we have heard a rumour that the old Tattoo Parlour in the Village Shopping Centre will now be a new Personal Training Studio. We will let you know more when we find out more.
The small shop at the bottom end of Library Place, that used to be home to Art of Beauty, is currently being refurbished. Rumour has it that it will soon be home to Lunar Design, a clothing store stocking “casual wear imported from China”.
