Welcome to our Lane Cove Week in Review for 30 October to 5 November 2017.

Lane Cove Food and Wine Festival

The Lane Cove Food and Wine Festival was held today. Once the rain stopped, the wine flowed and one Facebook Fan said:

“Rain has stopped and I can confirm it’s lovely down here. Relaxing music, good food and wine.”

Halloween

It was a busy Halloween night with plenty of kids out about and plenty of houses decorated with spooky things. One ITC Fan asked us to pass on the following:

“In the Cove, could you please post a big thank you to all the families in Lane Cove North and Lane Cove who decorated their houses and gave out treats for all the kids.

My kids just had the best time and it was so lovely seeing so many families out and about with kids giggling.

Huge points to the kid on Parkview on the sidewalk as a skeleton blob – great work! Although may send my little one to your place tonight with the nightmares, she is still talking about you 😂

Thanks Lane Cove North for your lovely community spirit tonight 🎃😁❤️”

Lane Cove In the News

Lane Cove was in the news this week when a body was found on the sidewalk at Mowbray Road. It was headline news on all the commercial TV stations. The police closed Mowbray Road for several hours on Saturday morning. The death was ruled not suspicious and our thoughts go out to the local family who has lost a loved one.

Lane Cove sporting star Lily Worrall won the North Shore Times Young Sporting Spirit star.

The Lane Cove North 15-year-old competes at a high level in a number of sports but pole vault and triple jump remain her top disciplines.

A multi-talented junior, Lily has competed at national level in track and field, as well as at state level for diving, gymnastics, touch football and sports aerobics. Well done Lily.

Crime and Incident Report

It was a wet weekend, so that means accidents on the corner of Bridge Road and River Road. Three accidents were reported to In the Cove. An ambulance attended each accident. You can read more about this intersection here.

Incidents reported to ITC:

This week, ITC was advised that someone tried to break into all the Riverview Shops. They failed to gain access but did damage doors and door handles. It does seem like thieves are targetting Riverview. You can read more about it here.

Reported by the North Shore LAC:

Excess Speed/Drive While Suspended – Lane Cove West

About 1:25pm Wednesday 25th October police were conducting stationary speed enforcement on Penrose Street Lane Cove West. At this time police detected a White Toyota utility being driven at more than 80km/h in 50km/h zone.

Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, a 19 year old man from South Wentworthville who was the holder of a P1 provisional licence. Police conducted checks which revealed the male’s licence was suspended. The male was issued with an infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 30km/h and was issued with a notice of suspension for his licence.

About 2:00pm the same day police observed the driver again driving along Penrose Street, Lane Cove West. Police stopped the driver and this time issued the driver with a Court Attendance Notice for the offence of Driving while suspended – 2nd offence. He will appear before Manly Local Court later this month.
