New Businesses
Be.U Natural
Two new businesses have opened in the Lane Cove Arcade. Be.U Natural stocks natural and organic products and gifts. The owner is Lane Cove local Nicola Conti and she has gone out of her way to stock local suppliers. The shop is located across from Found Gifts and Homewares (they have some really good clothes and gifts) and not far from Four Frogs Crêperie. Please go in and see her range and support a local. It’s nice to see a new retail store opening in Lane Cove.
Babo Tea
Babo Tea has opened in the Lane Cove Arcade in the old Snowberry Store and is serving Bubble Tea. It has become an instant hit with school kids, if you want quick service do not go into the store between 3.00 pm and 4.00 pm because it is packed with school kids.
What is bubble tea you ask? Some say it was created in Taiwan, after a tea house employee was bored and dumped tapioca pudding into iced tea. It turns out it tasted great, soon became one of the tea house’s best seller, and a trend started. Now bubble teashops are all over the world. Flavours can by anything including lychee, kumquat and can be made with different bases like coconut milk tea.
The reason it is called bubble tea is, bubbles form when the tea mixture is shaken vigorously. The idea is to drink the tea and chew the pearls of tapioca.
Smile Kids Parties
Smile Kids parties offers Entertainment Party Package for kids. They offer professional entertainers for birthdays, christenings, child care centres and OOSH. They also can provide entertainers for weddings and kitchen teas.
Their package includes a 15 minute live show using bubbles and singing/dance. They also offer face painting and balloon animals. They offer games such as Musical Chairs, Musical Freeze, Musical Limbo and more! Perhaps you would like games such as Tug of War, Sack Races, Running races, Parachute game or Egg and Spoon?

MultiStyle Painting and Decorating
Lane Cove Local Darren Simpson (who has lived in Lane Cove for over 40 years) and has been painting for 25 years has launched his own painting company called Multistyle Painting and Decorating. He wants to work on local houses as his kids go to a local school. Please contact Darren for a quote as he would love to work with you.
Pete Black Carpet Cleaning and Colour Restoration Specialist
Pete Black has moved from Canberra to Lane Cove and has quite a unique business. He is a carpet/furniture colour restoration specialist. Have you ever spilt red wine, fake blood at Halloween time, domestos on your carpet or stained your leather couches? Bird and Barrel Australia
A new online wine company www.birdandbarrel.com.au has launched. There is a Lane Cove connection (the marketing manager lives in Lane Cove and their founder is a former Lane Cove resident who still has family in Lane Cove).
Bird and Barrel Australia offer unique wine gifts which are beautifully presented in a display box. They hand pick their wines from a large portfolio, that is chosen because they represent amazing value from the vineyards and wineries they come from. They showcase smaller, boutique wineries that have individual success (medals).
The can also tailor corporate gift boxes, with a company’s branding that is value driven. They also offer a wine club, that you can custom build by wine variety and have delivered whenever you choose (monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, 6 monthly) or just buy a box for that special person.
This is one for all the chocolate lovers out there (and who does not love CHOCOLATE)!!
Two Lane Cove locals have opened a chocolate cafe in Crows Nest called Chocolab.
New Owners
Mowbray Eatery was sold to new owners a few months back. The new owner is Kash. Kash is pictured below with the Mayor of Willoughby Gail Giles-Gidney (the Mowbray Eatery side of Mowbray Road is Willoughby City Council).
Tres Jolie
Meet Mitra. Mitra has worked at Tres Jolie Lane Cove for five years and now is part owner with Wendy. Tres Jolie recently donated their time and talents as the make up artists for the Liverity Fashion Show.
AL Hair Stylist
Dominic is back. He can’t stay away. Despite having a well deserved rest after cutting hair for over 30 years, Dominic will be working every Sunday from 10 am to 4pm at AL Hair Stylist in Lane Cove Market Square.
Relocated
Stuart Leal Gallery has moved to The Village Shopping Centre. The Gallery is now located next door to NiBu Cafe and not far from Soulful Fitness The Village Shopping Centre is across from Coles. The Stuart Leal Gallery stocks Contemporary Indigenous Art.
Lane Cove’s Synergy Youth Centre
Synergy has moved from opposite Coles to a new temporary home at Centrehouse Community Arts Centre at 178 Longueville Road (opposite Lane Cove Library). A brand new Youth Centre will soon be built on the site of the former Youth Centre in Little Street and is set to open in late 2020.
The school term drop-in opening hours for the Youth Centre at Centrehouse Community Arts Centre are:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 3:00pm – 6:00pm
Friday: 3:00pm – 8:00pm
Saturday: 12:00pm – 5:00pm

New Business Hours/Staff
D’s Damat
You may have noticed that D’s Damat menswear store has odd retail hours. The store is now a factory outlet. Their new season clothes will be online and you can order online here. The online business is upstairs from the retail shop.
Chiropractic Central (located near Agora IGA) has a new chiropractor. Their wellness centre will now be open from 6:30am until 8pm Monday to Thursday and 6 30 am to 6 pm on Fridays. This will allow the Lane Cove community to visit Chiropractic Central over their lunch break or before and after work so they can make their health a priority.
They have also welcomed Dr. Angus Haseltine. He has been a chiropractor for 23 years and loves helping people achieve their health goals. Dr. Angus is eager to meet the Lane Cove community.
Herringbone Hair Design has welcomed a new hairdresser and makeup artist. Gillian has joined their team. Gillian loves colour work and if you need a balayage look or foils she would love to help you.
Milestones and Awards
A big congratulations to Len Wallis Audio for winning another industry award celebrating innovation in home technology.

The Foot Group is a finalist in the Local Business Awards. They are located in the arcade just behind Lil Lane Eatery (We can tell you that Andrew is partial to a coffee or two as we see him in Lil Lane regularly).
Happy 2nd Anniversary to Raine and Horne Lane Cove. They opened on 1 August 2017, it was just the three principals running the office with no other staff members, no market share and no rent roll.
Stuart Bourne, Nathan Westerbrink and Alex Banning were at the helm with big dreams of firmly establishing their own successful brand.
Two years later, Raine and Horne Lane Cove now has 13 staff members (and are currently on the hunt for two more), while their team comprises nine sales agents including Rebecca Mitchell, Hazel McNamara and Mary-Anne Fitzgerald.
Senior sales agent Rebecca Mitchell was awarded 2019 agent of the year for Lane Cove by ratemyagent.
