Two Lane Cove Artists Participating In The Other Art Fair

The Other Art Fair is the leading international art fair for independent artists and will be held in Sydney on October 12 – 15, 2023 at The Cutaway at Barangaroo.

The Other Art Fair has a mission to reframe art, and how it’s enjoyed; offering an inclusive, evocative, and inspiring fair, with a vibrant programme of features, workshops, immersive installations, DJs – and a fully stocked bar.

It prides itself on providing a unique platform for artists to connect with art enthusiasts, collectors and trade professionals.

The fair’s purpose-driven approach enables up-and-coming artists to showcase their work without the need for gallery representation in a highly competitive market on both a national and international stage.

The Other Art Fair will feature a diverse group of over 130 emerging and established Australian-based artists, including Lane Cove’s Ros Gervay and Anne Marie Cummins.

The fair has a talent for discovering the next big thing, and this spring’s featured artists are no exception.

Attendees will, of course, have the opportunity to discover and purchase artwork directly from the artists, as well as grab a drink, dance to DJs, attend workshops… and even get a fine art tattoo. Experience seekers, this one’s for you!

    Ros Gervay

Ros Gervay has been featured as the focal artist in both the 2022 and 2023 Lane Cove Festival celebrations. Her vibrant floral artworks are displayed on banners across Lane Cove and on the cover of the festival booklets.

Ros Gervay creates expressionistic nature-inspired paintings with layers of loose painterly marks, typically in acrylic on canvas. Ros Gervay’s artworks focus on the raw beauty of the natural world and its power to ground us and reconnect us with ourselves and the moment.

With a deep respect for the environment, Ros finds inspiration in the natural world around her, often translating her photographs into her artworks’ foundations. In each painting, Ros seeks to capture flora’s divine, untamed beauty, often through organic, gestural brushwork. Each painting acts as an invitation to the viewer, asking of them a moment of their time, to escape and be still.

She was a Finalist in the 2022 Art To Art Unearthed Art Prize and co-hosts the Paint Rest Repeat podcast.

    Anne Marie Cummins

Anne Marie Cummins is an accomplished Creative Director, producer and Interior Stylist based in Sydney, Australia.

Anne Marie’s training included studying at Sydney College of the Arts, majoring in sculpture and finishing a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communications at the University of Technology.

Like many true creatives, she has always painted and drawn and has chosen to expand her design practice to include creating mixed media art pieces.

Creating art is second nature. Abstract and playful, her practice includes gritty, urban, painted street collages and dynamic, bright abstract paintings.

Her expressive artworks reflect “great energy and expression”, drawing inspiration from life, music, travel, the natural Australian landscape and Sydney’s urban cityscape.

Most days, you will find her creating artwork from her Lane Cove studio and working towards a solo exhibition.

Lane Cove Council also commissioned her to provide installations for two of their recycled art projects.
