May is shaping up to be a busy month at Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios, with four exhibitions, a joint opening night, a Mother’s Day workshop and plenty of creative happenings across the studios. Whether you’re after a quiet afternoon with contemporary textile art, a hands-on creative practice, or a unique handmade find, there’s something on this month for every kind of visitor.
Mark Your Diary — Joint Opening Event
On Wednesday 20 May from 6pm to 8pm, Gallery Lane Cove will launch three brand new exhibitions with a single, big opening event. Three very different sensibilities under the one roof — and everyone is warmly invited. Drinks, conversation, and a first look at the new shows. RSVP Here
Final Weeks — echoes & silences
untethered fibre artists inc | until 9 May 2026
If you haven’t caught echoes & silences yet, now’s your chance. This collective showcase of contemporary textile and fibre art from untethered fibre artists inc is in its final weeks. The exhibition draws on the tangible — landscapes, oceans — and the intangible — silence, memory, community — through stitched, woven, dyed and sculptural works. It’s an exhibition that asks you to slow down and listen closely to what the material holds.

New From 13 May — Three Exhibitions, Three Very Different Worlds
From 13 May until 6 June, Gallery Lane Cove is running a trio of new shows concurrently.
Life and Beyond — Bruno Valente
Bruno Valente’s new body of work pulls between two forces. Life draws from the physical world — landscapes, beaches, nature. Beyond steps into dream-like realms shaped by symbolism, energy and the unknown. His paintings move between what’s seen and what’s felt, inviting you into a space where meaning isn’t fixed — it’s experienced.

Light Moves — Szilvia György, Chris Packer & Liz Shreeve
Using simple materials, these three artists harness shadow, light transmission and reflected colour to remind us of the everyday wonder that is light. Three distinct practices converge to transform the gallery into a space of quiet optical play.

Water’s Awakening — Clara Chiu
Water’s Awakening is the debut solo exhibition from Lane Cove local and Greenwich Arts Trail artist Clara Chiu— and we think this one’s going to be a favourite. Clara’s photographic works transform fleeting moments of water — ripples, reflections, shifting light — into immersive, abstract compositions that blur the line between photography and painting. Printed on archival rag paper, the pieces reimagine everyday waterfront scenes as emotive visual landscapes, and invite you to pause and experience water as a site of movement, transformation and quiet reflection.

Mother’s Day Workshop — Flowering Gum Thread Painting with Jack Buckley
Saturday 9 May, 10am – 12pm
Just in time for Mother’s Day, artist Jack Buckley is running a hands-on embroidery workshop celebrating Australia’s native flowering gums. You’ll learn common embroidery stitches, the basics of thread painting, and techniques for creating depth and detail in textile work. Each participant receives a unique template to build their piece from — a beautiful activity to share with a loved one, or a meaningful handmade gift to take home.
Term 2 Classes — Still Time to Join
