The very popular NSW Fire and Rescue Open Day is on again this year.Β  Kids love visiting their local fire station. The day is jam-packed with events.Β  You can watch firefighting demonstrations, climb aboard a fire truck, find out about fire safety and meet the firefighters who make it happen.

Your kids will see the fire truck ladder in operation and have the chance to explore the whole fire station. Β The kids can check out the equipment, see the fire station’s pole and put on some safety gear.

Visitors can also speak to firefighters first-hand about fire safety in the home, including how to install and maintain smoke alarms and how to develop a home escape plan to ensure they can quickly and safely escape a fire.

The Lane Cove Fire Station (situated in Artarmon) does not hold an open day, but you can meet some of their crew at the Crows Nest fire station.Β  You can read more about our Lane Cove 061 Crew here.

Our News. Your Voice πŸ“£

We’re In the Cove β€” Lane Cove’s independent local news, owned and run by people in your community. Which means no corporate backing. No government influence. Just locals, telling local stories.

In order to keep doing that, we need your support.

From 3–8 May, we’re part of a national fundraising campaign supported by the Local and Independent News Association (LINA) β€” joining independent newsrooms right across Australia to ask our communities to help keep local news alive.
