Thirty years. Same street. Same heart.
Farran Street Quality Child Care Centre has been part of Lane Cove family life since 1996 — the drop-offs, the first friendships, the milestones big and small.
Now they are throwing open the doors to celebrate, and the whole community is invited.
A Place Generations Have Grown Up
Ask around in Lane Cove and you will find families who have been part of Farran Street for years. Some are now on their second child. A few on their third.
This family-owned centre has been caring for local children for three decades, and what sets it apart is simple: every child is genuinely known here. Known by name, by personality and by what makes them tick.
Set in a converted home with a leafy outdoor space, it has the kind of feel that is increasingly hard to find in early childhood care. No corporate polish. Just warm rooms, outdoor play, familiar faces and educators who have often been there for years themselves.
In a sector where bigger has become the norm, Farran Street has quietly held its ground. The relationships are real, the environment nurtures curiosity and confidence, and the community around it has only grown stronger.
Thirty years of that is worth celebrating.
Mark Your Calendar: Saturday 23 May
Thirty years is a big deal, and Farran Street is celebrating in style.
They are hosting a 30th Anniversary Open Day on Saturday 23 May from 10am to 1pm, and it sounds like a wonderful morning. There will be a jumping castle, face painting, children’s activities and games, and an ice cream van — the kind of day kids will talk about for weeks.
It is also a lovely opportunity to meet the team, explore the centre and see firsthand what has made this little corner of Lane Cove so special to so many families over the years.
Whether you are a current family, a former family, or simply a local neighbour who has watched this place become part of the community, everyone is welcome to come along and celebrate.
A Colouring Competition for the Kids
As part of the celebrations, Farran Street is running a “Colour Our Community” colouring competition and it looks like a lot of fun.
Kids can download a colouring sheet from the website or pick one up from the centre, then go wild with whatever they have on hand. Crayons, pencils, paints, markers — the works.
Entries close on 23 May 2026, so there is plenty of time to get creative. Drop completed entries back to the centre or email a photo to [email protected].
There are prizes to be won, and the best entries may even end up on display at the centre or featured on their social media pages. Pretty cool for a budding young artist.
