As the season wraps up, the Lane Cove Football Club (LCFC) has given supporters many reasons to be proud. The club’s 90th anniversary has exceeded expectations, with record numbers of players and outstanding on-field performances.

LCFC has one of the best retention rates in the Northern Suburbs Football Association (NSFA), and this has translated into an increase in the number of teams. Senior women’s football has grown significantly, expanding from four teams in 2025 to seven in 2026. Although participation numbers are still growing in the female Minis and Juniors, more than a third of players are now girls, highlighting steady improvement across the mixed and girls’ teams.

Alongside these participation achievements, players delivered impressive results that reflected their determination and grit. The club secured seven league titles across its junior and senior divisions, with 17 teams qualifying for their respective semi-finals. Of those 17 teams, 12 progressed to grand finals and eight came away with a victory.

The Division 1 and Division 2 Women’s O45 teams won their grand finals after finishing second and first respectively. The Men’s All Age Division 2 team also had a remarkable season, earning promotion back into the Premier League and securing the title, as did the reserves. The team went on to compete in the grand final after a hard-fought 2-1 victory in the Damian Miles Cup. At the senior presentation night, the team was awarded Club Team of the Year.

While most players are preparing for the 2027 season, one team continued to push for further success.

After winning the local premiership, the Women’s O30 Division 1 Yellow team progressed through the qualifying matches to represent NSFA in the Football NSW Champion of Champions grand final against Killarney District Soccer Club at Valentine Park. The players fought hard and gave it their all until the very end but were defeated by Killarney District, who proved to be formidable opponents. Nevertheless, the team had a remarkable end to the season. It is the first team from LCFC to reach the finals in 20 years!
