For those staying In the Cove over Christmas, we’ve trawled the local businesses to find out who will be open on Christmas Day and/or Boxing Day. So if you NEED a coffee on Christmas or New Year’s Day Morning (and who doesn’t!?) or you’re all out of a vital ingredient for post-Christmas baking, we’ve got the intel here with our list of trading hours.
Some local takeaway shops will close early on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day, so if you are really keen on picking up some tucker from those shops, don’t leave it until the last minute.
We have done our best to ensure the information below is accurate. However, plans do change, so if you are really keen on a particular place, give them a call to check.

Petrol, Convenience Stores, Booze and Yikes I have Locked Myself Out
If you need Petrol and Convenience Store items on Christmas Day/New Year’s Day, Jack & Co is open. You can buy petrol, coffee, ice, snack food and all those essential ingredients you forgot to get for that secret Christmas dish. They are located in Northwood and Burns Bay Road and have stocked up on ice for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
If you lock yourself out of your house or you need a replacement lock urgently – Alert Locksmiths and Security operate their emergency service 24 Hours a Day/7 Days a Week.
I need a Doctor or a Vet
If you need a Doctor on public holidays, Wise Medical Clinic in Macquarie Park is a private billing emergency clinic, and they are open 10 am-10 pm 7 days a week.
For your Furry family members needing a vet, North Shore Veterinary Hospital in Artarmon is open 24/7 for emergencies only or SASH in Ryde.
Advanced Vet Care on Longueville Road near the Lane Cove Public School is closed on Christmas Day and will be closing early on Christmas Eve. They will be open all other times
Figtree Veterinary Clinic are closed 24th, 25th and 26th and New Year’s Day.
Lane Cove Council Emergency Issues
Council Civic Centre and Depot: Closed from 1pm, Tuesday 24 December 2024, reopening Monday 6 January 2025. Council can still be contacted on 9911 3555 to assist with emergencies.
Lane Cove Library: Closed on public holidays, with reduced hours over the holiday period.
St Leonards Library: Closed from 1pm, Friday 20 December 2024, reopening Thursday 2 January 2025 with reduced hours that week.
Marjorie Propsting Memorial Library (Greenwich): Closed from Monday 23 December 2024 to Monday 6 January 2025.
Library items: No due dates between Christmas and Monday 6 January 2025.
In case of Council emergencies, call 9911 3555, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you are Cleaning Up over the Christmas and New Year Period…
