A 56-year-old Cremorne man has been charged after a North Shore Police Area Command investigation found a number of brush turkeys had allegedly been shot with an arrow and ball bearings over an 18-month period.
Detectives began investigating after members of the public found injured brush turkeys near Green Street, Cremorne between April 2025 and September 2026. Each bird was taken to a wildlife hospital and had to be euthanised because of its injuries.

Police executed a search warrant at a Green Street address on Monday and seized two slingshots and a number of metal ball bearings.

The man was arrested and charged with three counts of recklessly beating and seriously injuring an animal, and two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon without a permit. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on 26 November.
