This week in our Local Area Spotlight we are looking at the Coles Arcade and the shops located under Coles.
The Coles Arcade is located at 56-60 Burns Bay Road, Lane Cove. The centre contains Coles Supermarket, three Specialty stores, a Kiosk store and a restaurant. The Coles store is very much an old format store and has not kept up to date with the new Coles format located in Chatswood. It is rumoured that Coles will be the anchor tenant in the new Rosenthal Avenue Development (that development is due to start in Jan 2017). This possible relocation is probably the reason why Coles has not been refurbished for a considerable period of time. Aldi is also a possible tenant of the new Rosenthal Avenue Development.
The Coles Arcade site was advertised for sale last year.
Maruya offers modern Japanese Cusine such as Saikyo Miso Lamb Chops, BBQ Pork and much more.
There are some terrific specialty shops located under Coles.
Mori Mart are the new kids on the block. Mori Mart is a bona fide Japanese grocery store, owned by MJ and Tai. In Japanese, Mori means Forest. MJ and Tai chose the name as they wanted a name that reflected organic and healthy. The shop is crammed full of Japanese goodies you would find in a Japanese Grocery store in Japan. You can see more of their stock here.
if you want something Japanese, but can’t find it let MJ or Tai know and they will track it down for you.
Cellarbrations in Lane Cove is an independent business. “Cellarbrations” is a buying group of independent retailers the same as IGA and Mitre 10. The store opened in December 2012 and they support many small wineries. Paul, the owner, was named Liquor Store Owner of the Year in 2015 by the NSW Liquor Stores Association.
If you want to match food and wine pop down to the store. The Store manager, Guy, is a chef by trade and enjoys selecting wine to go with the particular cuisine at a local eatery. He will even give you cooking tips. Cellebrations has over 1,000 different wines in their store and probably the best craft beer selection in Lane Cove. They can also help with functions and party orders.
One of our roving reporters sent us in this review of Cellarbrations at Lane Cove.
“Cellarbrations – carry some good boutique beers and wines and always very helpful and knowledgeable with recommendations”.
They offer wine tastings seven days a week.

The Flower Lady Lane Cove
The Flower Lady Lane Cove is tucked away behind the stairs. For many many years the owner would yell out on a Sunday Afternoon – ” Get Your Fresh Flowers Here – 2 Bunches for $15.00″. After the owner sold, the new owner had a recording of his voice and used to play it on Sundays. This tradition has gone. However the Flower Lady is open more hours than it used to be and is now under new management. The new owner took over about two months ago.
