Lane Cove News Week in Review 2nd to 8th June 2019

Everyone was talking about the weather this week.  It rained for most of the week, then dense fog on Saturday and a beautiful sunny day on Sunday.

The NSW Premier in Lane Cove

This week, the NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and the Minister for Energy and Environment came to Lane Cove to launch the expansion of Energy Switch to include gas.  Read more here.

The  Canopy

A Roving Reporter spotted a very brave crane driver fixing up the crane at The Canopy (the new name for the Rosenthal Avenue Car Park).

Business Alert

ITC has been told that Running Bare will be closing in Lane Cove and all stock will be transferred to Chatswood.

This is a shame as that section of Longueville Road has started to get busier with Lillane Eatery and The Foot Group moving into the area.

Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend

New Playground Opens

The new Bill Bryan playground has opened at the corner of Stewart and William Edward Street Longueville.

Sydney Swans

Some Sydney Swans paid a visit to the Lane Cove Cats AFL Club training this week. The photo below shows how excited the players were to meet Daniel Menzel and James Rose.

Lane Cove Gift Card is Taking Off

The Lane Cove Gift Card was only launched in May and it’s starting to become a popular gift. A Roving Reporter proudly used the card while buying Pizza at Zapparellis and another Roving Reporter told ITC her daughter received a gift card for her birthday.  The Lane Cove Gift Card is geo fenced and can only be used in Lane Cove at participating stores.  Find out more here.

Crime Report

Police have charged a man with assault after an altercation on Bus 291 on Epping Road. This follows another incident in March 2019 where police charged a man for an assault on Bus Service 252.  Read more here.

Accidents

A few bingles this week with the wet weather.

This was the aftermath of an accident near the Lane Cove Post Office.

 

This was the aftermath after a car slid on River Road and smashed into cars parked in the Northwood Caltex.
