Confirmed COVID19 case in Hunters Hill

For the last couple of weeks, the North Shore has been relatively COVID19 free.  However, a new Sydney CBD cluster has grown to eight, with confirmation that three infected people attended City Tattersalls Club gym.

City Tattersalls Gym

Anyone who attended the gym from 8 am-2 pm on August 19, 21 or 23 August is a close contact and must get tested for COVID-19 and isolate at home for 14 days. Other members of City Tattersalls should get tested if they have even the mildest symptoms.

Hunters Hill Bowling Club

NSW Health is contacting all known attendees of the Hunters Hill Bowling Club indoor dining room on 23 August 2020 (Sunday) from 12 pm to 2 pm to advise they are close contacts of a case and must immediately get tested and self-isolate for 14 days, and remain isolated for the entire period, even if the test result is negative. People who attended other areas of the club are considered casual contacts and must monitor for symptoms and get tested if they develop.

A person who attended the City Tattersalls Gym had lunch at the HH Club on August 23.  The person is believed to be a Hunters Hill local who has children at a local school; the children have tested negative.

Hunters Hill Cases by Likely Source of Infection

JP Morgan

The Australian Financial Review has reported three confirmed cases at JP Morgan’s office in Castlereigh Street in the city.

The AFR reported

“It is understood JPMorgan staff were told about the two new cases via a video call on Thursday morning, which was on the same floor as an earlier case identified at the beginning of this week.

Staff were told the operative who contracted that initial case had not been in the office since late last week. However, the two new cases worked on the same floor.

Sources said that floor remained closed and had been cleaned.

Meanwhile, other floors in JPMorgan’s Sydney office on Castlereagh Street were open, but it is understood staff were encouraged to work from home.”

Testing

A news testing centre has been set up at Macquarie Hospital – corner of Cox’s Rd and Badajoz Rd.  You do not need a GP referral if you are being tested at a public hospital.  Today we received this tip from an NSW Health worker:

“Consider visiting a smaller clinic or a pop-up clinic. You can find all listed clinics on the NSW HEALTH website (see link). Places like Ryde Hospital have essentially no wait time – and pop-ups are opening in response to recent cases at Hunters Hill etc. The RNSH clinic is great, but the outing will definitely take longer if you go there.”

To help stop the spread of COVID-19:

  • If you are unwell, stay in, get tested and isolate.
  • Wash your hands regularly. Take hand sanitiser with you when you go out.

How to Correctly Wear a Mask and Where to  Buy Masks Locally

The NSW Premier has asked us to wear masks when we can’t social distance.  In particular, she suggested we wear them when we are out shopping.  But how do you know you are wearing a mask properly.  We asked Sarah Martin, Lane Cove Mum and Registered Nurse with over 30 years of experience working in an Operating Theatres as a Clinical Nurse Specialist on how to wear a mask properly.  Read more here.
