Lane Cove News Week in Review 3rd November to 10th November 2021

Welcome to our Lane Cove Local News week in review, where we tell you what has happened over the last seven days in Lane Cove.

It’s great to see so many people supporting our local cafes and dining and visiting coffee shops is back in Lane Cove.  Our cover photo shows Mr Doggy ITC enjoying Cafe Nibu.  However, please ensure that you scan in and wear a mask indoors (when not eating or drinking).  There are still active COVID19 cases in Lane Cove – more info below.

Get Prepared for a few days of rain. Thunderstorms are also predicted (there is thunder as ITC is writing this article). In rain and thunderstorm season, we always get reports of lost pets, so keep those pets safe over the next couple of days.

See below the Bureau of Meteorology’s 3-day forecast.

Snake Season

It’s snake season again.

A Redbelly black snake has been hanging around in the bush near the workout equipment on the top end of Blackmans Park.

Keep kids and dogs away!  Here is what to do if you see a snake in Lane Cove.

Lane Cove Art Society Raises $30 000 for Charity.

The Lane Cove Art Society Charity Art Sale at the Diddy was a huge success, and we received the following email:

Thank you so much for your support. It really did make a difference. The In The Cove posts were the best advertising; we really appreciate the free advertising.

It was a huge team effort for a very worthy cause; as you know, we raised over $30,000.

I would also like to say that the Diddy has been very supportive too. The venue was provided at no cost to us, and the staff could not do enough to help so a real community effort.

Lane Cove still has Active COVID19 Cases

The tables show the location of residence by Local Government Area (LGA) or local health district (LHD) of locally acquired COVID-19 cases in the last four weeks. It is based on the date the person first developed symptoms. When no date of symptom onset is available (it is either under investigation by public health staff or the person tested positive without showing symptoms), the date of the positive test is used. Infections are not always acquired in the place of residence as people often travel outside their area for many reasons (e.g. work, school and shopping). Cases without an NSW residential address and people who were exposed interstate or overseas are not shown. Case counts may vary over time due to ongoing investigations and case reviews.*Includes all locally acquired cases (known and unknown source)

Business Alert

Lane Cove Local Victoria Davidson has launched her mediation practice.

Conflict, unfortunately, is a part of life, but knowing that doesn’t make dealing with it any easier. Disputes in our personal and work lives can cause enormous stress and impact our mental health and work performance. Court cases divide and oppose the participants for a win-lose outcome. As the story that is taken to court rarely captures the entirety of the issue, the resulting sense of unfairness can compromise working relationships, sometimes beyond repair.

Even very significant differences can be overcome without a relationship becoming collateral damage. The best resolution for a dispute is where the participants arrive at an agreement they can live with. Mediation promotes the exchange of information and a deeper understanding of the participants’ concerns, needs and interests. This allows them to work towards a mutually acceptable solution, move beyond the problem and maintain their relationship.

The kind of mediation Victoria practises promotes reconciliation and aims to rebuild working relationships.

If you are interested in more information about the mediation process or require a mediator, please contact Victoria Davidson at [email protected]

Victoria is an NMAS accredited mediator and has a corporate and commercial legal background. She has extensive experience running a small business where she has gained a deep understanding of the pressures and concerns business owners and operators face. As usual, when there is rain, there were two accidents on Mowbray Road Lane Cove North at the bend near the old Caltex Service Station site.  Read more here.

Yet again, another truck stuck at The Canopy roundabout. This was at 1.30 on Monday 9 November.  It created problems for traffic, and buses trying to access the village bus stop had to let passengers off and ask them to walk the rest of the way.  This is becoming a frequent occurrence.
