Australia Day 2024 in Lane Cove

This year, Australia Day falls on a Friday.   All the activities below (unless otherwise stated are on Australia Day, January 26 2024).

In 2023, The National Australia Day Council noted:

“For some, Australia Day is a day to celebrate all the opportunities provided by living in a free, multicultural society. For others, it’s a chance to reflect on their own citizenship and what it means to be Australian. And for many, January 26 represents a day of sadness, mourning and reminder of colonisation.”

Australia Day Lane Cove Shops, Cafes, and Restaurants

Woolworths, Coles and Harris Farm will open on the Australia Day Public Holiday. We will publish a list of coffee shops and other open locations on the public holiday very soon.

Australia Day at The Canopy

Start your Australia Day at The Canopy as Lane Cove Council welcomes Lane Cove’s newest citizens in this special Citizenship Ceremony from 8:00 am. There will be special guest speakers, and this year, the Lane Cove’s Australia Day Ambassador is Jason Sotiris, founder of Super Tee.

What is Super Tee?

The Supertee is a medical garment that inspires imagination. It is an updated version of the traditional hospital gown, but it’s been designed only for children this time.

This patented clothing is safe and easy to use thanks to its unique, innovative design.

The Supertee provides parents and hospital staff with an easier way to change garments while accessing and bypassing medical lines.

Supertee is so much more than a t-shirt; it’s a way to comfort children and families when they need it the most. The Supertee design is practical, inspirational, and 100% cool. Two unique contemporary designs are available, both made with high-quality cotton.

As the creator of Supertee, Jason said his journey has been very personal and extremely rewarding. His daughter was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer shortly after her first birthday, and she inspired the Supertee idea.

The idea for these garments developed during her hospital stay when Jason saw how hard it was to keep her clean and comfortable.

With first-hand experience, Jason cares deeply about helping others while living through equally challenging times. When you change how kids look and feel during their hospital treatment, you can positively influence their frame of mind. Supertee shows kids that someone cares.

Jason has management experience in real estate and construction and have been growing the Supertee brand since 2016. With personal experience and lessons learned from the start-up world, Jason wants to position Supertee as the preferred gift for all kids in hospitals worldwide.

Jason has a special connection to Lane Cove. His first job was as a property manager at Hamilton & Co., working with Joceyln Gregory (read more about Jocelyn here). Jason told ITC that working for Jocelyn gave him skills he used to work in the United Kingdom for over ten years. Jason said he loves visiting Lane Cove as it is a true village with unique shops and appreciates how many local shops are run by Lane Cove locals.
