ArtXtra!, the Lane Cove Art Society members’ exhibition, opens at Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios on 9th April 2025.

The Lloyd Rees and Guy Warren Prize is given to the best in the show. Winning artists are recognised on an honour board displayed in Lane Cove Library.

Guy Warren, a Lane Cove local, passed away in 2024. He was often described as Australia’s oldest working artist.
He was also an Archibald Prize-winning artist and the subject of a prize-winning Archibald painting.

Lane Cove Art Society
The Lane Cove Art Society aims to encourage, recognise and reward artistic talent in the community. They warmly welcome new members – all you need is an interest in art.
The Lane Cove Art Society is a not-for-profit organisation, run by volunteers. Our aim is to encourage, recognise and reward artistic talent and to provide a forum for people to share their interest and knowledge in art.
The Lane Cove Art Society’s roots are prestigious. The Lane Cove Art Panel, established in 1962, consisted of four artists: Lloyd Rees, Guy Warren, William Pidgeon, and Reinis Zusters. All of these artists went on to achieve outstanding artistic success and widespread recognition.
The Lane Cove Art Society meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month (except January and December). The meetings open at 7:00 p.m., and there is time to meet and talk before the meeting gets underway.
At each meeting, a well-known artist or guest speaker gives a demonstration or talk. Anyone interested in art is welcome to attend. The demonstration commences at about 7:30 p.m. and lasts up to 90 minutes.
Meetings are held at the LANE COVE SPORTING CLUB aka ‘THE DIDDY’. Corner Kenneth Street and River Road, Longueville
The Lane Cove Art Society also holds two exhibitions yearly as well as workshops, visits to galleries or artists’ studios, and mini-exhibitions for members.
