The Lane Cove Council has responded to the Covid 19 escalation. A few local council events have been cancelled and the public forum at the Lane Cove Council Meeting will not proceed.
Events Cancelled
Council has cancelled the following:
- Public Forum at the Council Meeting, Monday 16 March 2020
- Kaleidoscope of Lane Cove in the Plaza, Friday 20 March 2020, 3.30 pm
- Citizenship Ceremony, Thursday 19 March 2020
Council Facilities Remain Open
All Lane Cove Council facilities remain open and services remain in operation: This step was taken based on advice from NSW Health in a briefing to all local councils this week. NSW Health will continue to provide direction, for example, when a service should be closed. Lane Cove Councill is continuing to monitor NSW Health advice.
All Contracted Serviced Providers Will Be Operating
Lane Cove Council has sought assurances from its essential service providers that they are prepared and services will continue. Lane Cove Council is comfortable with providers such as waste contractors and their level of preparedness.

Lane Cove Council has moved to its second phase workplace response which includes measures such as minimising external meetings and large meetings.

Anyone who had intended to speak at the public forum on 16 March can submit their intended submission to Lane Cove Council for distributions to Councillors. Submissions can be submitted via email to [email protected] (using the email subject line “Public Forum speech”) or in-person by dropping a printed copy to Council’s Customer Service desk. All speeches must be received by 5 pm Monday 16 March.
Council Meetings are Webcast live during the meeting to provide the opportunity for the community to view proceedings without the need to attend the meeting. Council meetings commence at 6.30pm. If members of the public are not interested in any business recommended to be considered in Closed Session or there is no such business, Council will ordinarily commence consideration of all other business, at 7 pm. - Protect yourself and others: clean your hands regularly, cough or sneeze into your elbow or a tissue. Face masks aren’t recommended for people without symptoms. Importantly – stay at home if you’re feeling unwell.
