Draft Blackman Park Skate Park Concept Design
The consultation runs until 5 March 2023
The Draft Backman Park Skate Park Concept Design has been developed. You’re invited to give feedback by filling in a survey (link below).
The skate park designers, Convic, hosted two community workshops in October 2022 (pre-design) to help develop a concept for the skate park. Convic used feedback from those workshops to develop the ‘draft concept design’ and Lane Cove Council want to hear from you about this design.
From the October workshops:
SkateTypology – Participants favoured a transition style park with the inclusion of some street elements.
Skill Level – Intermediate was the most common but the design is still inclusive of provision for skill progression, allowing for beginners through to advanced levels
Skate Vision– An interesting creative facility which is made of transition style obstacles that are unique and create flow; including a mini ramp, spine, volcanos, vert wall and euro gap.
User and Spectator Amenity – A space for spectators and different user groups with break out areas and shade
Iconic Elements and Local Identity – A range and choice of benefits and experiences that include active and passive recreation within a natural bushland setting.

Local Author’s Book Proves Popular at Burns Bay Bookery
Lane Cove Local Sarah Martin has released a book called Dear Physcosis. You can find out more about it here.
Melanie C left the following review on Lane Cove Chat by ITC
“A few weeks back local author Sarah Martin posted about her book Dear Psychosis. This morning I woke up early and started reading….couldn’t put it down and just finished in literally one sitting. Sarah has written a wonderful, open and moving account of mental illness. She quite rightly says we need to shatter the silence that surrounds mental ill health. I have a close family member who went through a very similar experience to Alice, also offshore. There must have been urgent calls home, the same frantic travel to get them home and the assistance from medical professionals thereafter. And yet I never heard about it until years later. The silence is real and it should not be. Bravo Sarah, Alice, Shane, Jesse and Harry for smashing through it. Highly recommend picking this book up!”

Taste Living – A Different Approach to Renovating and Building
Some 15 years ago, Michael Nehme, a local Lane Cove builder, set out to do things differently and started to change the way we renovate and build homes in Sydney: one house at a time.
Michael says that when he started in the building industry, he viewed the concept of building a house just like raising a child… as per that old African proverb: “It takes a village”… you need the services of an architect, a town planner, a builder, an interior designer and in between all of that, you have to communicate with them all and fit all of that in our already busy lives.
Michael is very familiar with what families go through when building a house…read more here.
