How to Make Your Lane Cove Home a Backyard Habitat

Lane Cove is leafy Lane Cove and you can do your bit to make it even greener.

Lane Cove’s Backyard Habitat Programme

The Lane Cove Council’s Backyard Habitat Program provides on-site advice, resources and free plants to those who are looking to create native habitat gardens on their own property.  It is a free programme that operates all year round.

Join Lane Cove’s Backyard Habitat program and receive:

  • Free advice on how to create a native garden specific to your site. This involves a one on one consultation at your property followed up by a written report.
  • Free native plants from the Council’s Nursery.
  • An information pack about the environment where you live, its flora, fauna, biodiversity and conservation.
  • How to manage weeds more effectively.
  • Local native plants lists for a bush friendly backyard.
  • How to manage residential gardens in ways that do not harm bushland.
  • Follow up consultations and plants.
  • Invitations to native garden design talks and other relevant workshops.

How Do I Join the Programme?

Interested in Volunteering at the Community Nursery?

Do you have a green thumb or maybe you wish you had one? Why not volunteer at the Lane Cove Community Nursery and help propagate plants, sow seeds, bush regeneration and nursery maintenance.

The plants grown at the nursery are used for the Backyard Habitat Program and also the Bushcare Program, just to name a few.

If you are interested in volunteering you can contact the co-ordinator on 9911 3579 or email [email protected]
