On 22 June 2025, the member for Lane Cove’s electorate office on Victoria Road Gladesville was damaged after the words “F**K Israel” were scratched onto the front window.
Anthony Robert’s office sent ITC the CCTV of the incident. At around 5.46 pm, a man appeared to spit on the front window and then began scratching the glass.
A giant X was also drawn over King Charles III’s face.
Anthony Roberts told ITC that he was shocked and upset about the attack. He was particularly concerned about how the graffiti impacted the staff of the Montefiore Hunters Hill Aged Care Home. He is aware that some staff catch the bus to the facility from outside his office.
He noted that as the surface was scratched, the glass would need to be replaced, and this would cost the taxpayer money.
In February 2025, The Crimes Legislation Amendment (Racial and Religious Hatred) Bill 2025 was debated in NSW Parliament.
Anthony Roberts’ speech included the following:
“It is with no pleasure and, indeed, with great sadness that I feel the need to speak on the Crimes Legislation Amendment (Racial and Religious Hatred) Bill 2025. In my 22 years in this House, I never thought we would need to bring this type of legislation. It has been introduced to this House due to the appalling rise in antisemitism in New South Wales—particularly in Sydney—which is, quite frankly, unprecedented. It requires some serious soul-searching in our community as to the cause. Antisemitism is simply a cancer. Its existence eats away at and fatally attacks any nation it exists in. It leads to terrible consequences, not just social but also cultural and moral.”
Anthony Roberts told ITC that the police are investigating the malicious damage to the front window.
