Lane Cove Live – Bringing People Together Through the Magic of Live Music

    Don’t miss Lane Cove Live at the Lane Cove Plaza and Live Music Zone stages, all day from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday, Sept 13​ 2025.  It is part of the Lane Cove Festival.

    ​Twelve local bands and artists will play over two stages for a vibrant celebration of eclectic rhythms.  On Saturday, 13 September 2025, from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, immerse yourself in a day filled with spectacular performances by multiple bands and captivating live music artists.

    This community project is all about bringing people together through the magic of live music. Whether you’re an aficionado or new to the scene, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

    STRINGYBARK JAZZ: 9:00 AM CANOPY STAGE

    The Stringybark Jazz Band is a Big Band that plays all styles of Jazz, from Swing to Blues, Latin, and Ballads. As a well-established ensemble comprising around 20 musicians, they are a part of the LaneCove Community Band organisation. The Band plays at community events, festivals and citizenship ceremonies, and is also available to play at private functions for a small fee. Stringybark Jazz performs as a full Big Band but can also play as a small jazz combo consisting of 3 to 8 players.

    The band is led by Gerald Steinmann, who has been involved in music education in Australia for over 25 years.

    PENNY COOK 10:00 AM

    Penny Cook is a dreamer and a Lane Cove local. Her life is full of heart and music. The artist’s life is always calling, from her first degree in Performance Studies to travelling to New York City for voice lessons. Growing up, she sang along to all the jazz greats in her room.

    She has also seen performers like Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, Kurt Elling, Wynton Marsalis’ Big Band, featuring Cecile McLorin Salvant, Pamela Knowles, Billy Stritch, and Stacey Kent live in concert. Singing jazz standards from the Great American Songbook for the love of it is the dream Penny can’t let go of.

    REVERSE REVOLUTION: 11:00 AM

    Reverse Revolution is a band of three local kids who live and breathe pun rock, with Deon (11) on drums and vocals, Axel (12) on vocals and guitar, and Owen (11) on lead guitar. With a mix of high-energy original hits and pop-punk covers by the likes of Green Day, Foo Fighters and Blink-182, the boys are guaranteed to have you singing along.

    NEVILLE KAYE: 12:00 NOON

    Neville Kaye, born in 1976 in Johannesburg, South Africa, is a distinguished singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Sydney, Australia. He began playing guitar at the age of 18 and later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music in History and Society & English. In 2000, Kaye moved to Melbourne, where he specialised in jazz for six years and completed a Diploma of Education (Music) at La Trobe University in 2001.

    During this period, he recorded his first jazz album in 2003. He has achieved notable recognition, winning two Australian Songwriting Awards and in 2022, he secured first place in the ASA Awards for his jazz composition “Dance On A Summer Night” with his band Without A Trace.

    His discography includes eight albums, with “The Space Between Us (Deluxe)” released in 2024. He is currently involved in The Songs Of Dire Straits band, playing shows all across Sydney’s North Shore and Central Coast.

    GUY COOPER: 1:00 PM

    Guy’s journey with the Guitar really began only seven years ago when he picked it up as a means to help in recovery from cancer. It became his hobby and a bit of a passion. Having never performed publicly before, Guy says to busk at the Live Music Zone in Lane Cove has been a pleasurable challenge and a means to stretch himself and share his joy of playing.

    CARMON: 2:00 PM

    Carmon is a neurodivergent indie-folk-pop singer-songwriter who weaves emotions into melodies with her breathless voice and heartfelt lyrics. Inspired by artists like Lizzy McAlpine, Phoebe Bridgers, and Joni Mitchell. Her music blends smooth, melodic tones with themes of mental health. From a young age, music has served as her emotional outlet,helping her navigate the challenges of Autism, ADHD, and Anxiety. She has released 15 songs on Spotify, performs regularly across Sydney, and is currently recording her debut album ‘All My Life’. Carmon also performs as part of the band Vampire. She makes music for those who feel a little different and breaks the stigma around mental health through every song she shares.

    PARADIGM 3:00 PM

    Gustavo Swing is a dynamic six-piece neo-swing band, blending jazz, swing, blues and ska into a lively, modern musical experience. The group pays homage to the golden era of old time swing dance music with a contemporary twist. Expect fun and fast music to get everyone off their seats and dancing from the get go !

    PAUL BENNETT 4:00 PM

    Paul has been playing his grandfather’s Roth 1925 violin since the age of eleven through every genre; classical, blues, folk, Gypsy and now embarks on a new musical direction as an exciting jazz solo violinist and vocalist and pushing boundaries.  He is also the creator of the Live Music Zone and the Lane Cove Live Music Alliance and a passionate promoter of music in all its forms.

    Paul was a founding member of the folk blues fusion band The Road Captains for the past ten years, where he honed his skills as an accomplished instrumentalist.  You can hear all about Paul Bennett on our podcast here.

    Where is the Live Music Zone?

    The Live Music Zone is located in The Canopy near the lifts to Coles and Aldi.  Lane Cove Live will feature musicians on the big stage and in the Live Music Zone.
