Lane Cove Netball Club Goes From Strength to Strength On and Off the Court

The Lane Cove Netball Club has made history, with their A1 team crowned the 2025  Northern Suburbs Netball Association (NSNA) champions.  This is the club’s first top-grade title.

This historic victory caps a record-breaking season of growth and achievement.

This success did not happen overnight, demonstrating what can be achieved when community support, dedicated coaching, and talented players come together.

    Built on Strong Foundations

Lane Cove Netball Club has deep community roots. Founded in 1987 by Toni Field as the Lane Cove Public School Netball Club, the club has spent over three decades nurturing young talent and building community spirit for local families.

    A Bold Transformation

In 2019, the organisation underwent a strategic rebrand to the Lane Cove Netball Club. Spearheaded by then-President Karmen Karamanian, this change signalled a bold new era of growth and inclusion, opening the club to players of all ages and schools across the North Shore.

Since the rebrand, the club has experienced remarkable growth, with player numbers rising by 67% from 134 players in 2019 to 224 players in 2025.

Team numbers have also climbed by 67%, growing from 15 to 25 teams. The club has also seen a dramatic rise in representative players, reflecting the strength of its development pathway.

Behind the scenes, the club is powered by a hardworking volunteer committee, strong sponsor support, and the introduction of initiatives such as club merchandise, inclusive uniform options, and structured coaching and umpire mentoring programs.

    Elite Coaching Drives Success

Head Coach Julie Ring, an Advanced Accredited Coach, brings elite experience as Assistant Coach of the UTS Sparks Premier League Opens team. Her leadership has been instrumental in building pathways for players and shaping the club’s competitive edge.

The results speak for themselves. In 2025:

    • Twelve teams qualified for the finals
    • Six reached grand finals with three winning premierships — including the A1 historic win
Joint Grand Finalists 14D. Well done team and coach Emily Moeskops
14A winners – amazing game, good job team, coach Whitney Mueller
    11A Grand Final Runners Up

“This is more than a sporting milestone — it’s a community one,” said President Di Payne, who took on the role in 2024.

“From our young NetSetGO players to our senior athletes, from our umpires to our coaches, LCNC is about connection, confidence and community pride. The A1 win is the cherry on top of years of hard work and growth.”
