The Lane Cove Theatre Company’s last production of the year is Into the Woods Jr.
This production is a perfect way to celebrate 30 years of bringing children’s stories to the Lane Cove public (and ITC has seen a few of them, and they are always fun).
Book now, as the Lane Cove Theatre Company’s annual musical sells out quickly.
The season runs from 14th to 30th November 2025.
A Magical Fast-Paced Musical
Into the Woods Jr is a magical and fast-paced musical adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s iconic Broadway hit, specially tailored for young performers and family audiences.
Into the Woods Jnr is based on a book by James Lapine with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
Stepping “into the woods” this November, audiences will join a baker and his wife on a fantastical quest to lift a witch’s curse, crossing paths with well-known storybook characters like Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (of beanstalk fame), and Rapunzel. Each character has a wish, each wish comes with a cost, and the journey leads to unexpected lessons about life, love, and what happens after “happily ever after.”

The play is directed by Trent Gardiner with musical direction by Sally Robertson (many of you will know Sally, who is a music teacher at Lane Cove Public School).
This production will showcase the talents of a vibrant young cast of local performers who come from a number of local schools, including Lane Cove Public, Lane Cove West Public, Hunters Hill High School, Riverside Girls High and St Michael’s.
The cast will be supported by Lane Cove Theatre Company’s expert production team, including Jeremy Segal as Assistant Director.
With Sondheim’s witty lyrics, memorable melodies, and a heartfelt message about choices and consequences, Into the Woods Jr offers an ideal introduction to musical theatre for kids, families, and theatre lovers of all ages.

“This is a show that captures the imagination and challenges young performers in all the best ways,” says Gardiner. “It’s funny, poignant, and packed with incredible music — and we can’t wait to share it with the Lane Cove community as we celebrate 30 years of bringing children’s musical productions to the local stage.”

He is a Foundation and Life Member of the Lane Cove Theatre Company, having served on the Executive Committee for the last 30 years.
Whether you’re a fan of fairy tales, musical theatre, or just looking for a great family outing, Into the Woods Jr is not to be missed. A perfect way to celebrate 30 years of bringing children’s stories to the Lane Cove stage!

If You Buy Us A Coffee, it is, in fact, helping to pay the ITC Team
We want to clarify that, yes, the ITC team does support local businesses by drinking coffee, but there is a limit to the number of cups you can drink in a day.
We started the Buy Us A Coffee Campaign as a way to keep local news free and to grow our team. Our team is now comprised of three local mums who work part-time to bring you all the up-to-date news, traffic alerts, incidents, and events. We also now have Walkley Award Nominee Jack Kelly writing articles for us, as well as founder Jacky Barker. We truly appreciate any help you can provide, whether large or small.
How local journalism keeps communities engaged
Local newsrooms play a vital role in keeping communities informed and engaged with the decisions that affect them. Without dedicated coverage of local government, infrastructure, and policy changes, many residents are left uninformed about issues that significantly impact their daily lives. Independent newsrooms help bridge this gap, providing a trusted source of information and giving people a platform to voice concerns. Strong local reporting doesn’t just inform, it fosters public participation and strengthens civic engagement. – extract from the Local and Independent News Association Website
