Police Arrest Man Allegedly Involved In Artarmon Home Invasion
A man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged home invasion on Sydney’s lower north shore last month.
About 8.30 pm on Monday, 3 November 2025, police were called to a house on Rimmington Street, Artarmon, following reports of a break-in.
Officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command arrived and were told three men, dressed in face coverings and one of whom was armed with a knife, allegedly entered the back verandah of the property and restrained a 49-year-old woman.
The woman’s hands were allegedly bound together with cable ties, and her phone was stolen. The men then entered the house and attempted to restrain a 52-year-old woman; however, they were unsuccessful. The group then allegedly stole an amount of cash before leaving the premises.
Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident. NSW Ambulance paramedics assessed the woman for minor injuries but did not require transportation to the hospital.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives, with the assistance of the South West Metropolitan Region Operational Support Group, executed a search warrant at a house in South Granville on the morning of Tuesday, 9 December 2025, where an 18-year-old man was arrested.
During the search, police seized a mobile phone and a Toyota Corolla from the location for forensic examination.
The man was taken to Granville Police Station, where he was charged with kidnap in company with intent, serious indictable occasion actual bodily harm. He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court next Tuesday.

The initiative is part of the United Nations’ ‘16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence’
Lower North Shore Domestic Violence Network had a stall in the plaza for most of the day. Staff were on hand to answer questions and provide information on how to identify the different types of violence perpetrated against women and children, as well as what support services available in our area.
Lane Cove Rotary also had a Rotarians present to lend their support to the initiative.

Christmas In Lane Cove
On Friday, 5th December 2025, the festive season officially launched in Lane Cove. The village was abuzz with activity, even after a very hot and energy-sapping day.
In The Canopy, Bluey and Bingo once again delighted fans with their Christmas show (see our photo of pram parking). In the plaza, there was music from DJ Nacho Pop, Adult Glee Club and the Sydney Youth Jazz Orchestra. Attendees were also treated to performances from Lane Cove Dance Academy and Ra Ra Lions mini lion dancing troupe.
In between all of that, there was free craft with Busy Bees Lane Cove and Lane Cove Council (Council’s fan decorating was popular in the heat!).
Mayor Merri Southwood was on hand to light the Lane Cove Christmas tree. See our reel here.
On Sunday evening, Hughes Park was filled with music from Lane Cove Community Bands. Locals brought down their picnic rugs and dinner to enjoy some live music, including carols, at the popular annual event.

Federal MPs Jermone Laxale and Zali Steggall were in attendance and addressed the crowd, sharing their own experiences of growing up and living in multicultural Australia.
Bands and ensembles from Lane Cove Public School performed some of their favourite pieces learnt this year, as well as some Christmas carols. There were also cultural displays from local families and delicious food from multiple cultures.

Greenwich Games
Every four years, the Greenwich Community comes together for the Greenwich Village Games (their own version of the Olympics). The Games started in 1988 and have huge community support.
The Greenwich Village Games are a real community event. It is superbly organised. It does not matter if you are young or old, everyone can be involved (in fact, certain events require age groups from young to old and male/female). You did not need to be a supreme athlete to participate in the events. Over 1800 people competed in several events, including the new hobby horse race. It was also the first time Bob Campbell Oval had been used since the upgrade. The games feature a wide variety of events, plus the review.
The winners by one point were The Builders (going back-to-back). Their team captains are Kylie Dunlop, Andrew Dunlop and Nick Tindall.
Years ago, ITC wrote an article about how every suburb in the Lane Cove Council area should have a Greenwich-style game and at the end, the winners from each suburb battle it out for the Lane Cove bragging rights.

Colliers completes $13.7 million co-living property sale in Lane Cove as investor interest grows
Co-living is becoming a fast-growing investment trend as housing needs change and demand increases.
Colliers has sold Botanic Suites, a newly built co-living building at 47 Mindarie Street, Lane Cove, for $13.7 million. The property was developed by Daoud Investments Pty Ltd and purchased by Mindarie St Pty Ltd. The shareholders of Mindarie St Pty Ltd are John Koutsogiannis, Danny Koutsogiannis, Angie Stavridis and Joana Pavlakis.
The sale was managed by Colliers agents Harry Bui, Andrew Bui, and James Mullin.
Completed in 2025, Botanic Suites is a six-storey building with 27 fully furnished, self-contained apartments, a rooftop communal lounge and secure basement parking.
According to Harry Bui, Head of Asia Markets, co-living is becoming a key housing option as people look for affordability, convenience and a sense of community. He says co-living is more than a temporary trend—it reflects a major shift in how Australians think about housing.
Previously, co-living buildings were known as “new generation boarding houses.” Today, a property can only be called a boarding house if a community housing provider operates it.

Rotary Car Boot Sale
The Rotary Car Boot Sale returned to Lane Cove on Sunday, 7 December and was another fantastic success. Stall applications sold out quickly this time, and after Saturday’s extreme heat, everyone was grateful for a much cooler day in the Lane Cove Council car park.
This event is not only an essential fundraiser for Lane Cove Rotary, but also a brilliant way for our community to shop sustainably, support local sellers, and help families declutter their homes. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Rotary event without their legendary sausage sizzle — always a crowd favourite.
A huge well done to Rotary and all the stallholders. We can’t wait for the next one!

New Business Alert: Dumpling Head Is Coming to Lane Cove
The former Wok Passion space has been completely stripped out and signage confirms that Dumpling Head will be moving in. The fit-out is still in early stages — the space is fully gutted with new tiling laid. There’s no confirmed opening date yet. But all signs point to Lane Cove welcoming this new dining option sometime in 2026.
Dumpling Head already operates a popular restaurant in Bondi Junction, and we noticed they appear on several food delivery apps. That gives us a sneak peek at the type of dishes we might expect when they open here. Think pork & chive dumplings, chilli wontons with spicy sauce, hand-pulled noodle bowls, crispy pork buns, vegetarian dumpling selections, sticky chicken wings, prawn dumplings & shumai.
