Recycling Trailer To Be Removed From The Canopy Carpark
January is a popular time for locals to have a general tidy-up and declutter around their homes.
The ITC team is doing the same, and when we went to drop items at the trailer in The Canopy carpark, it was once again overflowing, with many items dumped outside.

When this happens (as with charity bins – see photo below), many items are exposed to weather, dirt and animals, rendering them not suitable for donation or recycling. The burden then falls to the operators to foot the cleanup bill.
A contractor who was clearing the trailer at The Canopy informed us that the facility is scheduled for removal. Lane Cove Council have confirmed Monday, 12th January 2026, is the final day for collections at The Canopy.
After this date, alternative recycling options include taking items directly to the Community Recycling Centre in Artarmon or using HomeCycle, which entitles locals to free collections of a host of recyclable items from their home.
It is hoped these options will achieve the same recycling outcomes without the dumping impacts in our local area.
Here’s a guide to get you started on what and where to recycle more.

At the event, President Glenn Poynton announced two big steps in the club’s next chapter.
The first is that the club will be expanding into the neighbouring LGAs of Hunters Hill and Ryde from this year. The move aims to broaden the Cats’ community and provide an opportunity for even more kids to get involved in the game. The club will be rebranded and known as the Lane Cove Hunters Hill Cats and the major sponsor is Raine & Horne Lower North Shore led by Stuart Bourne.
Glenn Poynton also announced the commencement of a project to redevelop the Buffalo Creek site in Hunters Hill as a home for AFL to be played in the region. This is a long-term investment in participation, access and community sport by Hunters Hill Council and the Cats.

NSW Residents Urged To Check Unclaimed Money Register
Did you know you could have money waiting to find its way to you?
Nearly $300 million in unclaimed money is waiting to be returned to NSW residents, with families encouraged to check if they are owed cash. The unclaimed funds, held by Revenue NSW, come from overpayments, uncashed cheques, dividends and refunds, and often build up when people change addresses, lose paperwork or when estates are unaware of money belonging to deceased relatives.
More than 800,000 unclaimed items are currently registered to NSW addresses, with the largest amounts in Sydney’s city and eastern suburbs, Western Sydney, and the Central Coast and Hunter regions.
Once verified, claims are usually processed within a month. You can search the official unclaimed money register here to see if money is owed to you.

The third day again had variable winds which tested crews, with breakages, capsizes and a race restart adding to the drama. Sail Inc posted a win and a third to extend their series lead to six points. C-Tech took a race win, while Geotherm and Terms & Conditions remained firmly in contention.
