The North Shore Police Area Command has released its February 2026 North Shore crime wrap-up, and Lane Cove locals get quite a few mentions. The North Shore Police have been busy with break-ins, driving offences, and a road-rage incident that occurred right in front of an unmarked police car.
Routine Stop Turns Serious: 35-Year-Old Lane Cove Man Charged with 16 Offences
At 9:30 am on 24 February 2026, police were conducting proactive patrols of the Artarmon area when they stopped and spoke with the Lane Cove man on the Pacific Highway. When asked by police to provide his particulars, the 35-year-old is alleged to have provided false details.
At 1:40 am on 19 January 2026, police will allege that the 35-year-old was captured on CCTV footage outside a business on Alfred Street North, Neutral Bay, using a blowtorch to break into a lockbox. The Lane Cove man was unsuccessful but damaged the lockbox.
Later that same day, at 6:30 am, police will allege that the male entered the underground carpark of a residential unit complex on Grosvenor Street, Neutral Bay. While inside the secure underground carpark, police will allege that the 35-year-old broke into one of the garages and stole several items totalling $1,100, including jewellery, footwear and clothing.
At 2:17 am, 21 February 2026, police allege that the Lane Cove man was captured on CCTV in the secure underground carpark of a residential apartment building on Herbert Street, St Leonards. The male is allegedly captured on CCTV walking towards a vehicle space allocated to one of the residents that contained property. The 35-year-old Lane Cove man allegedly entered the area, rummaged through the property, and took $530 worth of items.
Police will allege that the male then went to another vehicle space allocated to another resident. This space was partially enclosed by three walls and contained shelving for storing personal items. The 35-year-old rummaged through their belongings, removed several bottles of wine, consumed them in the carpark, and left the empty bottles behind.
Police had cause to search the Lane Cove man’s home and will allege that, during the search, they located two propane canisters with a blowtorch attachment, a toolbox containing screwdrivers of varying sizes, and three pairs of scissors.
Police observed that the tips of each pair of scissors were damaged and will allege that the male was using the scissors to manipulate doors or locks to open them. Police will allege that they also located two key chains/rings containing more than 20 keys and a swipe card.
The male was placed under arrest and taken to Chatswood Police Station, where he was charged with offences including
- Destroy or damage property
- Enter enclosed land without lawful excuse
- Break & Enter house steal value <= $60,000”
- Larceny
- Knowingly make false/misleading statement
- Possess housebreaking implements
- Custody of a knife in a public place
- “Goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen
- Commit s114 offence, having a previous conviction
The male refused bail and will face Hornsby Local Court on 11 March 2025.
Break and Enter – Greenwich – 12/02/2026
A 36-year-old Artarmon man has been charged with break-and-enter after allegedly breaking into a home in Greenwich.
At 6:00 pm on 12 February 2026, the owner of a house on Portview Road, Greenwich, returned home and noticed his back door was open. They contacted the police.
Police arrived shortly later and, as they entered the front of the house, allegedly heard noises at the back of the property.
As police went around the back of the house, they allegedly found the Artarmon man running through the rear garden.
Police pursued the 36-year-old on foot and arrested him a short distance away.
During a search of the male, police will allege they located items stolen from the property, as well as “house-breaking implements,” including a lock-picking device, tools, torches, and several pairs of gloves.
Police also allegedly located a folding knife on the male.
The male was taken to Chatswood Police Station, where he was charged with
- Break & Enter house – steal value <= $60,000
- Possess housebreaking implements,
- Custody of a knife in a public place
The Artarmon man was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Hornsby Local Court on 4 March 2026.
Goods in Custody – St Leonards – 13/02/2026
A 33-year-old woman from Lane Cove North and a 24-year-old man from Artarmon are under investigation for possessing stolen goods.
At 8:30 pm on 13 February 2026, police were conducting proactive patrols of St Leonards Railway Station when they allegedly saw the 33-year-old Lane Cove North female and the 24-year-old Artarmon man climb over the entry gate without using a valid ticket.
Police stopped and spoke with the female and male and searched them.
The police will allege they found multiple brand-new, tagged clothing items in the Artarmon man’s bag. Police also allege that the female disclosed the items were hers; however, she was unable to provide proof of purchase at the time. Police will allege these clothing items were stolen.
A charge of “Goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen” will be laid if the female is unable to provide proof of purchase for the items.
The matter is still under investigation.
Drug Detection – St Leonards – 11/2/2026
A 34-year-old Camperdown man has been charged with multiple offences and had his bail application refused.
About 10 pm on 11 February 2026, police will allege they observed the 34-year-old male travelling at excessive speed on an electric scooter on Pacific Highway, St Leonards, without a helmet.
Police will allege they began to follow the Camperdown male before observing him attempting to hide behind a garden hedge whilst placing his backpack on the ground, out of view.
Police will allege that as they approached the male, he alighted back onto his scooter and attempted to evade police at excessive speed by crossing the middle of Pacific Highway.
After a short time, police were able to stop the Camperdown male, who allegedly informed police he was on parole.
The male was subjected to a search during which police will allege in court that they located prescription medication prescribed to another person. The male was allegedly unable to produce a script for possessing the medication.
Police conducted checks, which revealed the male also had an outstanding warrant. The Camperdown male was arrested and conveyed to Chatswood police station, where he was charged with “Possess/attempt to prescribed restricted substance”, and “Goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen”. Police also executed the outstanding warrant.
The Camperdown male was refused bail and appeared before the Hornsby Local Court on 12 February 2026.
Mid Range Drink Driving – Lane Cove – 21/02/2026
A 48-year-old Lane Cove male has been charged with multiple driving offences after police sighted a vehicle on River Road, Lane Cove, allegedly failing to stay within the marked lane.
At 11:05 pm on 21 February 2026, police will allege they were travelling on River Road West in Lane Cove, directly behind a black Toyota station wagon, when they observed the vehicle failing to stay within the marked lane lines.
Police stopped the black Toyota Station wagon and spoke with the 48-year-old Lane Cove man driving it. Police will allege the driver failed to produce his driver’s license when asked. Police conducted a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result.
Police conducted checks on the male, which revealed the Lane Cove male was subject to a good behaviour condition on his driving licence from March 2025 to March 2026 inclusive.
The Lane Cove male was arrested and taken to Chatswood Police Station for a breathalyser test. At the station, the male was submitted to a breath analysis and allegedly returned a reading of 0.097 grams of alcohol in 210 litres of breath.
The Lane Cove male was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice with the offences of “Drive with mid-range PCA – 1st offence”, “Drive motor vehicle not carry licence”, and “Not keep left of centre two-way road”. The Lane Cove male was issued a licence suspension.
Drug Detection – Neutral Bay – 6/02/2026
A 44-year-old Cowra female has been charged with possess prohibited drug.
At 3:30 am on 6 February 2026, Police were conducting proactive patrols on Military Road, Neutral Bay. Police will allege they observed the 44-year-old Cowra woman and the 45-year-old North Narrabeen man acting suspiciously.
Police spoke with both persons and had cause to search them. Police conducted a search and will allege they located a small plastic resealable bag of methamphetamine in possession of the Cowra female.
Driving offences – Mosman – 13/1/2026
A 34-year-old Seaforth female has been charged with multiple driving offences after being stopped on Spit Road in Mosman.
At about 10:44 am on 13 February 2026, police were conducting proactive patrols on Spit Road, Mosman, when they observed a white Holden utility. Checks allegedly revealed the registration had expired in February 2025.
Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the 34-year-old female driver from Seaforth. Police will allege the Seaforth female stated she did not have a licence when asked to produce it. Police will also allege they observed a young child in the front passenger seat who was of an age that would require a child restraint/seat.
Police will allege they conducted checks on the Seaforth female, which revealed she was disqualified from driving from September 2025 until March 2026.
Police will allege they submitted the Seaforth female to a roadside drug test, which returned a positive detection of methamphetamine.
A secondary roadside drug test was conducted with the Seaforth female, which returned another positive detection of methamphetamine.
Police inquiries into the child passenger revealed that the child was five years old.
The Seaforth female is due before the Manly Local Court on 18 March 2026.
Police referred the incident to the Department of Communities and Justice.
Traffic Offences – Mosman – 14/02/2026
A 33-year-old Port Kembla man has been charged with multiple driving offences.
About 6:47 am on 14 February 2026, North Shore police were conducting random breath testing on Military Road, Mosman. Police stopped a Black Holden Captiva and spoke to the driver, a 33-year-old Port Kembla man.
Police will allege that the Port Kembla man failed to produce his driver’s licence when asked and told police that he held a Learner’s Licence. Police will allege that no L plates were displayed on the vehicle, and that he was not accompanied by a fully licensed driver.
Police conducted checks on the male’s license, which allegedly revealed it was suspended for a fine default.
The 33-year-old was submitted to a roadside drug test, which allegedly returned a positive detection of methamphetamine.
A secondary roadside drug test was conducted with the Port Kembla man, which returned a second positive detection of methamphetamine.
The Port Kembla man is due to appear before Manly Local Court on 23 April 2026.
Road rage intimidation – Roseville – 26/2/2026
A 42-year-old Lalor Park female has been charged over an alleged road rage incident.
About 11:30 am on 26 February 2026, a male and a female were travelling in their car in Roseville when they stopped at an intersection.
A 42-year-old female from Lalor Park got out of the car behind the couple and is alleged to have approached them while holding a crowbar.
It will be alleged that the Lalor Park female tapped on the car window multiple times with the crowbar while shouting at them.
This was allegedly witnessed by two police officers in an unmarked vehicle. The 42-year-old was arrested, and a crowbar was allegedly located during a search of her vehicle.
The Lalor Park female was served a Field Court Attendance notice for “Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (personal)”. She will face Hornsby Local Court on 25 March 2026.
