Lane Cove Pauses To Remember On ANZAC Day
On Saturday 25 April there was a large community turnout for ANZAC Day commemorations at The Canopy in Lane Cove.
Crowds were significantly larger than in recent years, with people filling the grassed area and spilling onto surrounding footpaths and even into the playground.
The service featured addresses from local RSL representatives and politicians and was attended by Lane Cove Mayor Merri Southwood and State MP Anthony Roberts.
A moving highlight of the service was the tribute to local veteran Commander Arthur John “Nat” Gould, whose extraordinary life saw him serve in six theatres of war across four military services.
Local veterans groups, politicians, schools, community and sporting organisations also took part in a wreath laying ceremony to remember all those who have served. After the ceremony wreaths were moved to the Lane Cove Cenotaph, next to Lane Cove Library on the corner of Longueville Road and Austin Street.

Catwalk for A Cause Turns Heads & Raises Funds For Delvena
Lane Cove came together in style last Thursday night for Catwalk for a Cause, a sold-out charity fashion event held at The Alcott, which raised $22,000 for Delvena Women’s Shelter.
With 175 guests in attendance, alongside additional support from community members who purchased virtual tickets as a way to contribute, the evening was a powerful demonstration of local generosity and connection.
The runway showcased collections from Lane Cove’s favourite boutiques including Zjoosh, The Hunted, Found, Bella Cove Lingerie, Iris & Lin, Taking Shape, Miss V Boutique, Blue Illusion and Denim Life, alongside a stunning close to the evening from Rain Bridal. The show also featured curated fashion looks sourced at local op-shops and designs from talented Lindfield College students, highlighting sustainability and emerging creativity within the community.
Funds raised from the event will go directly to Women & Children First, supporting the vital work of Delvena Women’s Shelter.
The event was created and organised by Lane Cove locals Emma Rogers and Rowena Gupta, with Lane Cove Rotary. The evening was hosted by MC Therese Tarlinton.
Following the overwhelming support and positive feedback, there is strong interest in making Catwalk for a Cause an ongoing event on the local calendar.
For those who would still like to contribute, donations can be made directly via the Women & Children First website.
More photos from the event can be viewed here.

KPop & Beauty & The Beatz A Big Hit
Saturday night saw a huge crowd gather at The Canopy for a family-friendly concert featuring two high-energy acts.
First up was the KPop Glow Disco, a music and dance act which delighted fans with hits from favourite KPop artists and the KPop Demon Hunter movie soundtrack.
The second act was Beauty & The Beatz, a party band covering a bunch of crowd favourites.
Both groups had the crowd on their feet and moving, making it a memorable night for all.

Picnic Rug Toy Sale
On Sunday 26 April, many families from the community gathered to participate in the Picnic Rug Toy Sale at The Canopy. The event was organised by Anthony Roberts MP and his team as a way to bring the community together and help younger people learn about sustainability and a circular economy.
Families brought along their pre-loved toys to sell or trade.
The event highlighted the significant service The Lane Cove Toy Library is providing by reducing toy waste and overconsumption, building community and helping members save money.
The Lane Cove Toy Library was also fundraising on the day to help cover operational costs.
Another highlight of the day was the stall from One Giant Leap Australia, who were showcasing programs aimed at increasing STEM and space knowledge amongst kids. Their robot dog was very popular as it made its way through the crowd and showed off its tricks.

A Lane Cove West resident has shared a community alert after two thieves attempted to break into several homes on Cullen Street in the early hours of Tuesday 21 April.
The resident, who was among those targeted, reports that while the thieves tried several external doors, nothing was stolen — they appear to have been deterred by a dog on the property. The incident has been reported to police and CCTV footage is available.
Residents in the area are encouraged to check their own security cameras and remain vigilant.
