ITC has been contacted by a few people asking about how to join a local Book Club. The Burns Bay Bookery Book Club (phew say that quickly after a few chardies) holds a book club once a month and everybody is welcome. The lovely owners of the Burns Bay Bookery, want their shop to be more than a shop where people just pop in and out. They want to build a hub or a community of like-minded book lovers.
The Burns Bay Bookery firmly believe that passionate readers (that’s you!) are the whole point of books, and that’s why they started their Book Club. The May Book Club is scheduled for 4 May 2016.
Their book for May is Where the Trees Were by Inga Simpson. Inga is an Australian writer and is a featured guest at the Sydney Writer’s Festival in 2016.
This is the third book Inga has written and follows two acclaimed novels Nest (2013) and Mr Wigg (2014).
Where the Trees Were is a novel about the innocence of childhood and the scars that stay with you for life.
The Australian’s Women’s Weekly AWW Great Read April 2016 described the book as: an entrancing novel from a powerful new voice in Australian literature.
The book is published by Hachette Australia. Their editorial team is dedicated to seeking out and developing writing talent from around Australia.

ITC loves a good book club. In fact. ITC loves a book club so much that we designed the Book Club Tea Towel Agenda.
You can purchase this book club tea towel (an ideal Mother’s Day Gift) at Burns Bay Bookery or online at www.stylie.com.au.
Joining a book club could lead to a longer and healthier life according to recent studies in United Kingdom – read our blog here about this research.
