Welcome to our Lane Cove Local News week in review with up-to-date information on COVID19 as it impacts the Lane Cove Local Government Area.

The tables show the location of residence by Local Government Area (LGA) or local health district (LHD) of locally acquired COVID-19 cases in the last four weeks. It is based on the date the person first developed symptoms. When no date of symptom onset is available (it is either under investigation by public health staff or the person tested positive without showing symptoms), the date of the positive test is used. Infections are not always acquired in the place of residence as people often travel outside their area for many reasons (e.g. work, school and shopping). Cases without an NSW residential address and people who were exposed interstate or overseas are not shown. Active Cases

The data below the number of active cases  (active cases are cases where a person is in isolation and is being managed by NSW Health)

NSW recorded 594 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8 pm last night.

There are currently 959 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 188 people in intensive care, 93 of whom require ventilation.

Of the 594 locally acquired cases reported to 8 pm last night, 15 are from Northern Sydney LHD.

No new cases were acquired overseas. Fourteen previously reported cases have been excluded following further investigation, bringing the total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic is 66,267.

Sadly, NSW Health is reporting the deaths of ten people – seven men and three women.

One person was in their 40s, one person was in their 60s, four people were in their 70s, two people were in their 80s, and two people were in their 90s.

Five people were from south-western Sydney, three people were from western Sydney, one person was from Wollongong, and one person was from the Edward River region.

Three people were not vaccinated, four people had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and three people had received two doses.

Three people – a man in his 60s and two men in their 80s – acquired their infections at the Allity Beechwood aged care facility in Revesby. These are the first deaths linked to an outbreak at this facility.

A man in his 70s died at Westmead Hospital. His death is linked to an outbreak at the Northcourt aged care facility in North Parramatta. This is the second death linked to this outbreak.

A woman in her 70s from the Edward River region died at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. She acquired her infection in the community before being transferred to Melbourne for further specialist care.

NSW Health extends its sincere condolences to their loved ones.

There have been 395 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021 and 451 in total since the start of the pandemic.

There have been 60,596 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.

There were 90,680 COVID-19 tests reported to 8 pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 85,642.

NSW Health administered 22,987 COVID-19 vaccines in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

Across NSW, 88.6 per cent of people aged 16 and over have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 67.7 per cent are fully vaccinated to 11.59 pm on Monday 4 October 2021.

The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 10,459,088, with 3,663,252 doses administered by NSW Health to 8 pm last night and 6,795,836 administered by the GP network and other providers to 11.59 pm on Monday 4 October 2021.

If you are directed to get tested for COVID‑19 or self-isolate at any time, you must follow the rules whether or not the venue or exposure setting is listed on the NSW Health website.

It remains vital that anyone who has any symptoms or is a close or casual contact with a person with COVID-19, isolates and is tested immediately. When testing clinics are busy, please ensure you stay in line, identify yourself to staff and tell them that you have symptoms or are a contact of a case. Local testing info here.

Please check the NSW Government website regularly, and follow the relevant health advice if you have attended a venue of concern or travelled on a public transport route at the same time as a confirmed case of COVID-19. This list is being updated regularly as case investigations proceed.

Business Alert

A new express waxing bar will open when restrictions are relaxed.  It is located in The Village Shopping Centre where the old Adam Larissa used to be located.

Community Sport

Once restrictions are eased community sport will be back on, and teams are calling out for players.

Registrations are now open for girls to play cricket with the Lane Cove Cricket Club. Girl’s cricket has gone from strength to strength in Lane Cove – so get on board.
