How to Show Proof you are Vaccinated in NSW

From 11th October if you are fully vaccinated you will be able to do certain things that are not available to unvaccinated locals.

From 11th October 2021, the following will reopen:

    • Bars, cafes and restaurants can operate under the one person per four-square-metre rule for indoor spaces and the one person per two-square-metre rule for outdoor spaces. People can stand to drink outside. There is a density limit for up to 20 people per booking and takeaway only for people who are not fully vaccinated.
    • Retail stores can accommodate one person per every four square metres. Those who are not fully vaccinated will still only have access to non-critical retail via click-and-collect.
    • Hairdressers, spa, nail, beauty, waxing, tattoo and massage businesses can operate according to the one-square-metre rule, capped at five clients per premises.
    • Gyms and indoor recreation facilities can operate with one person per every four square metres, with a cap of 20 people per class.

How to show proof of your COVID-19 vaccination

At the moment there are 2 ways to show proof of your vaccinations:

Your COVID-19 digital certificate which shows proof of only your COVID-19 vaccinations that you can add to a digital wallet.

Your immunisation history statement which lists your COVID-19 vaccinations and all other vaccinations.

More information is available on the Services Australia website.

Eventually, the Service NSW Check-in App will also include your vaccination status.  However, until this happens you can only use the two methods above.

How Do You Download Your Digital Certificate?

You can download your COVID-19 digital certificate and immunisation history statement using:

your Medicare online account through myGov

the Express Plus Medicare mobile app

    your My Health Record.

If you are not eligible for Medicare, you will need an Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI) to get your proof online if you are not eligible for Medicare.

If you don’t already have an IHI, you can apply for one and link it using the Individual Healthcare Identifiers service (IHI service) through myGov.

To do this, sign in to myGov then:

Select Services or Link your first service.

Select Individual Healthcare Identifiers service and then follow the prompts.

To add the certificate to the wallet in your phone follow these steps.

    I Don’t Have a Phone – How Do I get a Paper Certificate?

If you can’t get proof online, your vaccination provider can print your immunisation history statement for you.

You can also call the Australian Immunisation Register and ask them to send your immunisation history statement or COVID-19 digital certificate to you. It can take up to 14 days for your statement or certificate to arrive in the post.
