Bern the Chef , Chef & Caterer
Catering with Great Ingredients, Creativity & Generosity
Hello, I’m Bernadette.
A female chef, running a catering business here in Lane Cove. I’m a local residing in Greenwich, I love the climate, the proximity to the harbour, and poaching quince.
Our focus is catering events for you with top quality ingredients including a high level of service. I am a trained chef with over 30 years experience. That’s a lot of peeled potatoes!
We cook in a council approved commercial kitchen. All prepped with the freshest ingredients, almost all hand made from our sauces, vegetables, fresh fish & export quality meats. We include the best hand made breads & pastries from Brasserie Bread. Exceptional meats & smallgoods from Vic’s Meats. Ocean fresh sustainable fish & seafood from Joto Fresh Fish. Outstanding cheese & fine foods from Simon Johnson & Calendar Cheese. Incredible fresh from the markets fruit, herbs, free range eggs & vegetables from Murdoch Produce.
We shine best for your Cocktail Parties, Sit Down Dinners & Buffets.
We also look after catering & events n the Pottery Lane Performance Space- easy to book via the Lane Cove Council. Theatre, Musicals, Educational Training & Community Events.
Definitely experienced. I’ve been cooking in restaurants & catering for over 30 years.
That’s right, I’m old, but not too old! Old enough to be sensible, patient and friendly to deal with. Young enough with the energy, fun & freshness.
We support the local primary schools, with discounted rates for annual fundraising events. You’ll find us catering at the local sailing clubs as well.
I love supporting my local community here, with Jacky & the team from In the Cove, Rita from Spotted Orchid, Harris Farm, Lane Cove Council, Pilates Studio in Lane Cove, Greenwich Primary School, Lane Cove West Primary School, Ray, the Riverview Butcher, The Greenwich Village Games, Class Occasion Hire, Walkers Party Hire, OC Fine Foods and more.
We help springboard young entrepreneurs with mentorship in the hospitality arena.

Bern helped us with catering for 70 people at our daughter’s 21st which we hosted at home last weekend. From start to finish she was a delight to deal with. We chose several different canapés from her on-line menus, along with a baked ham. From the moment Bern arrived, she put me at ease with her relaxed professional approach, and attention to detail. The food was delicious and plentiful, and she prepped, served and cleaned up with a minimum of fuss, while the party ramped up around her. I made a couple of extra food items to keep costs down and Bern was more than happy to plate up and serve these as well. Once service was done she tidied up and quietly slipped out - it honestly was like having an angle in the kitchen. Worth every cent! 😊
