Galuwa Recreation Centre is a brand-new sport and community hub located at 180 River Road, Lane Cove (Northwood), NSW. It opened to the public in January 2026 after more than 15 years of planning and construction, making it one of Sydney’s most significant new recreation facilities. The centre’s name, Galuwa, means “to climb” in the Sydney Aboriginal language — symbolising growth, activity and community connection.
What It Offers
Multi-Sport Facilities
- Eight modern multi-sport courts: four indoor and four outdoor. These support basketball, netball, volleyball, tennis, pickleball, badminton and more.
- Inclusive casual court hire and social sport opportunities for all skill levels.
Indoor and Outdoor Sports
- Indoor courts host a range of activities including basketball, netball, badminton and pickleball.
- Outdoor courts also offer tennis, social netball, pickleball and futsal options.
Programs & Events
- Social sport competitions, casual bookings, holiday camps and community programs for kids and adults.
- Flexible multipurpose rooms and halls can be hired for classes, meetings, celebrations and community events.
Golf & Dining
- The existing 9-hole Lane Cove Golf Course continues as part of the precinct, with a new Pro Shop and practice facilities.
- Food and beverage offerings (like a bistro or outdoor dining) are planned to open during 2026.
