Lane Cove Public School is currently seeking a casual canteen assistant to contribute to our vibrant school community by helping deliver nutritious meals to our 750 students in our modern canteen. The role will entail working between 10 and 15 hours per week during school terms.
Operated by the P&C, the Lane Cove Public School canteen offers a five-day service providing recess and lunch meals, as well as over-the-counter service.
As a canteen assistant, you will receive support from our canteen manager, as well as the P&C Canteen Liaison and the P&C Executive.
About the Role:
- Adherence to hygiene and food safety protocols
- Food preparation, cooking, and over-the-counter service
- Receiving and rotating canteen stock
- Assisting volunteers in the canteen
- Supporting the canteen manager with periodic cleaning tasks
- Maintaining cleanliness and safety in the canteen environment
About You:
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with students, volunteers and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner
- Possess a positive attitude and ensure both students and volunteers feel welcome at the canteen
- Ability to safely perform the physical aspects of the role
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently, especially during busy periods
- Willingness to take initiative to support the smooth operations of the canteen
- Adaptability to handle various duties and responsibilities as required
- Previous kitchen experience is advantageous
- Hold a valid employee Working with Children Check
- Familiarity with child protection legislation and willingness to undergo employment screening
- Food safety certificate (preferred)
- Legally entitled to work in Australia
