Skill Samurai Lane Cove is looking for an enthusiastic coding coach to join their energetic team! This role will suit a passionate individual who is passionate about technology and interested in teaching. Full training is provided for the right individual
Location: Lane Cove, Occasional off-site classes
Employment type: Casual position
Hourly Rate: Misc. Award MA000104. $25.00 – $35.00 per hour
Start Date: As soon as practical
Expected hours: 5 – 15 per week
Suitable for: Computer Science / Information Technology undergraduates Hours of Operation (as a guide):
After School Classes:
Monday - Friday 3pm - 8pm
Saturdays: 8:30am - 12pm School Holiday Hours:
Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm
The Skill Samurai Coding coach is responsible for:
● Understanding and executing procedures of the Skill Samurai Lane Cove (e.g. opening, closing and learning center presentation).
● Preparation of the classroom before lessons.
● Ability to lead a group of young children (ages 6-16).
● Communicate effectively with students, parents and other team members.
● Be able to explain Computer Science material effectively - (Lesson Plans and
training provided).
● Delivering a high standard of care and education to all students.
● Attend paid staff meetings and professional development.
● Be able to attend multiple locations as required occasionally.
Characteristics and qualifications:
● A background in Coding, ideally block coding, java, python (No tertiary qualifications required).
● Proficiency in primary school mathematics.
● Interest / experience in gaming Minecraft, Roblox
● Experience in, or a keen interest in coaching and teaching children.
● Ability to connect and communicate with parents on their child’s learning.
● Accept direction, supervision and constructive criticism.
● Ability to possess a high degree of professionalism (Appearance, dress,
communication).
● Ability to establish effective relationships with parents and children.
● Able to multitask.
● Working with Children Check required.
