Position Overview:
We’re looking for a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Casual Barista & Retail Customer Service Assistant to join our team at IGA Lane Cover, a local community grocer with an in-store café. This role combines café and retail duties — ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers, takes pride in great service, and can switch easily between preparing coffee and assisting on the shop floor or at checkout.

Barista Duties:
Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including espresso-based drinks
Operate coffee machines and grinders with accuracy and care
Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised café area, including food display and service counters
Monitor stock levels and assist with basic food handling or café prep (if required)
Provide friendly, efficient service to café customers
Checkout Duties:
Greet customers warmly and assist with inquiries across the store
Operate the POS/till system for both café and grocery sales, handling cash and EFTPOS
Help maintain clean, stocked, and well-presented retail shelves and displays
Assist in receiving deliveries, restocking shelves, or tidying aisles when needed
What We’re Looking For:
Previous experience in a café, grocery, or customer service role (preferred)
Barista experience and confidence using commercial coffee equipment
A positive, can-do attitude and strong communication skills
Ability to multitask and shift between roles during busy periods
Availability for flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays , approximately 12 to 15 hrs per week.
