This cause is deeply personal to me. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 43, when my children were just 3 and 1 years old. My treatment involved surgery, radiation, and a gruelling year of chemotherapy. While that chapter was incredibly challenging, it didn’t end there — routine follow-up scans one year later detected a rare cancer of the appendix, which led to the removal of half my bowel.
Thanks to advances in cancer research, improved detection, and modern treatments, my story has a hopeful outcome. Twenty years ago, my cancers would likely have been a death sentence. Today, I have a 90% survival rate over five years, and I’m still here — raising my children and living a full life.
