Lane Cove Seniors Reconnect Program – StrokeSafe Talk

Join our StrokeSafe Talk: learn stroke signs, stroke emergency response & how to cut your risk. 80% of strokes are preventable!

Lane Cove Council is delighted to announce the return of the Reconnect Program this October, in support of Mental Health Month. This 5-week initiative will focus on supporting the health, wellbeing, and connection of seniors in our community.

Week 1 – Session 2 (10:30am – 11:45am) : StrokeSafe Talk

Seniors are at a higher risk of stroke, but the good news is, 80% of strokes are preventable. Some causes within our control include high blood pressure, being overweight, inactivity, smoking, high cholesterol, excessive alcohol intake, and diabetes.

Join us for our StrokeSafe Talk to learn:

  • What stroke is – What happens when someone is having a stroke and the different types of strokes.
  • How to recognise the signs of stroke – Learn the vital F.A.S.T. signs of stroke.
  • What to do during a stroke emergency – Knowing when to call triple zero (000).
  • How to reduce your risk of stroke – Understand and reduce the risk of stroke.
