Military History – Australian Fighter Pilot A J ‘Nat’ Gould

In the 1960s Greenwich became home of an unsung hero. Arthur John ‘Nat’ Gould flew numerous fighter aircraft in six theatres of war including U K, Russia, Papua New Guinea, Darwin, the south-west Pacific (World War II) and Korea. He flew cutting-edge fighters including Spitfires, Hurricanes, Kittyhawks and Mustangs. Retiring as commander, Nat had four commissions; flying for RAAF, RAF, Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm, and Royal Australian Navy Fleet Air Arm. Denis Smith OAM knew Nat Gould for over 40 years and discusses his diverse military career. Denis belongs to the Military History Society, Spitfire Association, and Lane Cove Historical Society.
