Our gum leaves are everywhere and everyday. In this workshop we will take ‘ordinary’ fallen gum leaves we find in Eden Gardens and tune in to their ‘extraordinariness’. Endless variations, colours, flaws and patina of each unique leaf contain beauty and embedded stories of that tree and its place.
Based on close observations of a collected leaf we will use various materials and media…drawing with soft pastels on paper, collaging with tissue paper, fabric and natural materials, stitching with thread…to create a larger than life artwork: the ‘ordinary’ transformed, the ‘extraordinary’ revealed.
