Executive functioning skills at home & school
7 years ago a teacher in Tokyo came to ask how I could help a student. His student had difficulty getting started, was late with homework, procrastinated until the deadline was near and couldn’t edit his work. He had identified a difficulty in the students executive functioning. We know as adults we need these skills to get through everyday – organisation,planning, time management, initiation, forward thinking and problem solving. – Vanessa
Georgia Clarke {Occupational Therapist}
Independent skills for all ages
We have added a new skill to our toolbox in the clinic and it is Occupational Therapy! The question is .. what exactly does that mean and how could that help my child?
Georgia, our Occupational Therapist has been doing a lot of teaching to our team about her role with children. We found out why she gets to do fun crafts and play with putty and all in the name of therapy. So we thought you would like to know too.
Your child’s occupation can be many things in different ages and stages from outdoor play, to puzzles and thinking skills, and school skills with handwriting, letters and holding pens).
