Patricia Garcia and Aime Saba are going to talk about the Rohingya situation. Aime has just returned from the Bangladesh camp with over 1M refugees and has been a part of the Rohngya Crisis Response. The present Rohingya crisis and broader Rakhine conflict are represented distinctly by different ethnic and political groups both within Burma and internationally. This divergence has had tangible negative impacts on prospects for peace. Also, the diverse positions and grievances of communities affected by this conflict have not been adequately represented in national and international media and strategy, correcting this is a prerequisite to positive change. It should be an illuminating evening.
