David and Carmel Glanville and their three grown children are all musicians and now have a local family business: the Sydney String Centre. The members of the family are all highly trained, each one being at least one of: violinist, violist, cellist, luthier, industrial designer, teacher, lawyer.
Their business involves the manufacture, supply and repair of music string instruments. They sell 2,000 instruments a year and rent 800. A recent newspaper story reports that their handcrafted violins range in price from $500 to over $100,000.
