Voices for the Valley film screening
The Nature Conservation Council of NSW, Lane Cove Bushland and Conservation Society and Lane Cove Coal and Gas Watch are showing a free screening of the documentary “Voices for the Valley”, a powerful short documentary created by 19 year old award winning filmmaker Jess Nipperess.
The film features all three coal mines near Mudgee and Wollar, with a focus on the Moolarben coal mine. Moolarben is NSW’s largest coal mine. The film shows the serious threat its proposed expansion poses to our climate and the biodiversity of the region.
The film is narrated by Manjot a young person from Mudgee with Punjabi heritage. The film weaves together stories by long term residents, young people and migrants, about their fight to stop the mine extension. Locals have spent over two decades resisting the impacts of coal mining. See the trailer here: Voices for the Valley: Rising Up Against NSW’s Largest Coal Mine
