Men’s Shed
Biographical Info
THE MEN’S SHED is a fully equipped workshop where skilled and unskilled men can share time with each other, swap yarns and work together on community projects. Members make and repair furniture, toys, craft items or work on their own personal projects. Many items are donated to community groups whilst some are sold to buy materials and new tools for the Shed.
The Shed is a place for:
- Retired men to be social. sharing company while feeling productive;
- Learning new skills and honing old ones, using good tools on interesting projects;
- Pursuing hobbies, pastimes and interests.
On Wednesdays, men with few or no skills, who like to be very leisurely about their projects or may need special help are very welcome.
The supervisor provides simple projects, helps with instruction, ensures safety standards in a friendly and patient atmosphere. Projects include leatherwork, simple wood carving and bookbinding. The Department of Veteran Affairs promoted the formation of the Wednesday group
