Sydney Swans Train at Blackman Park Lane Cove

Blackman Park was a hive of activity on Tuesday 23 January when the Sydney Swans hit Blackman Park to train.  This was no publicity stunt – everyone was there including Josh Kennedy and Lance “Buddy” Franklin.

The Swans were full of praise for Blackman Park.  Swans Midfielder and former Saint Ignatius’ Riverview student Daniel Robinson was impressed with the playing surface.  Dan mentioned it certainly looked different to the last time he played at Blackman Park (when he played for the Mosman Swans).

The Blackman Park Scouts Hall and Amenities Facility might be a little too close to the Goals – some balls did bounce off the roof.  The Swans probably kick the ball a bit harder than the Lane Cove Cats.

Having the entire Sydney Swans list play in Lane Cove is a real coup and it is the first time they have trained outside their Moore Park base.  This is a testament to the amazing relationship the Lane Cove Cats have with the AFL.  The Lane Cove Cats continue to go from strength to strength.

The Lane Cove Cats plan to build on a successful 2017 season.  Last year juniors membership was up 12% to 101 across 6 teams. This also included their first ever youth girls team. Auskick members were up 35% to 127. It was the biggest group of Auskicker to ever play at LCC. The Cats also joined the first ever U8 competition in North Shore, which was a resounding success.

This year they are planning to increase teams to approximately 11, including new teams in U10 and U15 youth girls divisions.   So why not head over to the LCC website and register.
