3 Tips for a Good Night’s Sleep

Ecodownunder knows a bit about getting a good night’s sleep.  They sell a beautiful range of underblankets, quilts, sheets, pillowcases and more. Here are Ecodownunder’s simple tips for a good night’s sleep

How often do your first conversations of the day include a mention of events during the night – dreams, disturbances from partners, children, pets or possums in the roof – and then the awakening of the dawn chorus when it’s not quite time to start the day.

But our obsession is for good reason. Sleep is essential to our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and we’ve all experienced what it’s like to try and function on a poor night’s sleep.

The good news is, with cooler weather and longer nights, quality sleep comes more easily.

Rapidly approaching the shortest day, 21 June, our nights are longer, and the sun doesn’t rise until around 7am, giving us every opportunity to sleep a little longer if the day permits.

Keep Your Room Cool

When the bedroom is cooler, people tend to fall asleep more quickly. Avoid heating your bedroom this winter and allow the temperature to fall to around 17C. This not only means you’ll sleep better, just think of the money you’ll save on heating bills.

Use Natural Fibres

Treat your bedroom as a haven for sleep by creating a comfortable, relaxing and cozy environment that tempts you into an early night. Getting the temperature right in bed also plays a vital role in improving the quality of your sleep. A couple often wants to sleep in different temperatures, which can make it hard to find the right bedding to suit you both. The answer is in natural fibres as these can work for hot and cold bodies.

Adopt a Layering Approach

Ecodownder recommends a layering approach to ensure comfortable nights through the seasons. Starting with what you sleep on, once you’ve tried a wool underblanket, you won’t want to sleep on anything else. These are reversible, so when winter ends, you can switch to a cooler cotton side up while retaining the comfort and softness of the double-fleeced wool.

Sunrise TV’s Special Report on Winter Bedding named ecodownunder wool under blankets the Wonder Product!

Wool is a natural insulator – thanks to the crimp in its fibres which traps air in tiny pockets, creating a thermal barrier slowing the transfer of heat. These temperature regulating properties are the reason why it’s great for sleep as it keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer.

The average person can perspire up to as much as a litre of water a night. Wool, unlike synthetics, absorbs this moisture so you don’t feel clammy when you sleep. Staying dry and comfortable means you sleep longer!   Wool  quilts come in winter wool and all-season weights and have pure cotton covers for extra breathability and comfort.

Add luxury sateen sheets which are pure cotton, a few cushions and throwsto make your bedroom look more interesting and inviting and you’re set to spend more time truly restoring your body during the night.
